Finallly obtained this! A card I have been looking for a while now. Any other 96 Atomic collectors out there? Always liked them and wanted the Griffey

    Did Topps mention the print run of the 1996 Atomic Refractors? Did any collectors manage to figure out an estimate?

    In 96 I pulled the atomic refractor of Jose Guillen (a prominent rookie at the time)
    Promptly sold it for just over $100
    Those were the days

    Beckett's website says they were inserted 1:48 hobby packs and 1:80 retail packs.

    Still, w/o production numbers, there may be tens or hundreds of thousands of each of these cards.

    I generally have a good feel for 90s print runs based on what I see popping up on ebay. If I had to guess I would say there are between 250-400 of each 96 atomic made. I tried building a set for a couple months but they just weren't showing up. There are more up now than I have ever seen at one time, mostly due to Burbank. I think 96 football are a little more plentiful but not by much.

    Personally, I've always preferred the 1995 Bowman's Best Refractors, more plentiful but 10x more condition sensitive, incredible RC class, incredible All-Star/HOF selection, the first set where the Bowman Chrome model was used successfully...

    I just joined Collectors Universe and found your posts on the 96 Atomic Refractors. I have a complete Refractor set, complete Atomic Refractor set, and a complete Mirror Image Atomic Refractor set. There are some cards in the Refractor set and Atomic Refractor set that have minor surface scratches but they're still awesome sets. The Mirror Image set is mint in my opinion. I know there are alot of scams on the internet but you can check me out on Ebay, I have 100% feedback with 841 posts, UID is droid39. Both the Refractor and Atomic Refractor sets include the Mantle card. Beckett has the Atomic Refractor set valued at $1,816.00; the Refractor set at $904.50; and the Mirror Image Atomic Refractors at $260.00. All 3 are for sale if the price is reasonable.     No superfractors, they started SN the refractors/atomics in 98/99. Refractors had a print run of 400, Atomics 100. No idea if they were roughly the same print runs in 96/97, I'll have to check my boxes and see if odds were the same.

    Also as far as 96 goes it seems theres a decent amount more of basketball and football printed than baseball based on looking through ebay from time to time over the years

    So I would bet the atomic from baseball was the lowest print of the 3 from that year
