Laura Gardin Frasers Washington Quarter Submission Had Type ! and Type II Reverses
I thought it interesting that a lot of individuals preferred the Fraser coin to Flanagans submission, which we know was chosen in 1932 for the new Washington Quarter design.
The difference of opinion between the Fine Arts Commission and Secretary Mellon is a story in itself.
What was not known to me was that two reverses of the Fraser Quarter were made. One has smaller stars, with the eagle feathers do extending into the bottom of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Enjoy the pictures. Note that the date was smaller on the original submission.

Yep. There were actually several obverse and reverse versions. Those pictured were the "finalists." Fraser had already won the medal design competition - which paid more than the coin design.
This is a great post! Love the info!
Are images of the other designs available?
I haven't run in to any, Zoins. Of course I haven't looked.
Good idea.
