The old boards were still accessible until mid-'06 but they dumped a lot of data to free space.
I didn't come around until April of 2002 (when I finally bought a computer and dial-up) but I did use a buddy's computer to post messages on bulletin boards as early as 1992. There weren't many such messages in those days but I certainly wasn't first.
These boards hit their peak activity in 2003 and they were a lot of fun. It was the wild west in those days and almost anything went but there was a lid on the chaos at all times (except about 2 AM )

I joined the old board back in the 90s. I was there for a few years. We were given a few warnings that we had to move to the new board. I think for a while we could actually post on either board. A lot of alts were lost but many were started here. Some had several in the beginning. Don't think they were tracking IPs much. There was this one guy that would start fights and argue with himself. There were a lot of fun times.
12/29,2001 here @dpoole drug me over here(forget the reason ) from the ebay coin discussion forum. I started there in 1998 and it was a hopping place back then!
I have posted here since early 2003, before that I was on a couple of Yahoo groups for error coins, and before that I posted in rec.collecting.coins on Usenet.

I didn't post anything and forgot all about it until I tried to join last summer and found my user name was already here. I tried a password I used back in the day, it worked, and here I am. I'm willing to bet that the 17 year gap between joining and posting has to be a record.
Great thread! I love the 1990's screenshots! I didn't know about the boards until around 2007. I joined shorthly after and have loved the place ever since!

I tried getting you in earlier, messaged you on Instagram but you never responded
I always feel sad when I read old threads and see many posters that no longer contribute (either having lost interest, banned, or are dead). Nothing is static, but I wish we had a more accumulative member count.

I know I wasn't one of the 2001 folks, as I didn't get back into coins until 2002 when my son was born and I started wanting to do his birth year SHQs, and branched quickly into Morgans and more....found the RCC (rec coin collecting) group on the "wild" internet and then heard about these forums and lurked for months before joining here.
