Reconsideration is mostly for older slabbed coins where the owner does not want them cracked out unless they upgrade. Truview didn't exist 20+ years ago when OGH and OBH coins were graded. So for most of these reconsideration upgrades that do not pass, there is no picture.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
I got grades back last week on 9 coins, which haven't been shipped back yet. 5 were submitted because I needed Morgan VAM attributions, including one that I hoped might get a +.
Surprise! that one went from 45 to 53, which I did not see coming at all. The others, which I thought all had a shot, went nowhere.
I was planning on sending a rather large group to play the numbers, but instead bought more slabbed coins. Then ebucks 8% happened. Then... some more. I got lucky with my first one and only resubmission a few months ago. 66+fs went 67fs.
I sent in 10 coins for the special, 2 submissions of 5 coins each. One submission was for a 1 point upgrade, and no upgrades were received there. The other 5 coin reconsideration submission was for a + upgrade, and 3 coins did gain the +.
Finally sent mine out this morning, just 5 coins, along with a regular submission. Will update here in a few weeks when I get results, if I remember to.

Good luck. It may not take weeks for the Reconsideration sub. Mine was logged in 11/6 and shipped back 11/14.
Found a Trueview on one of mine. Honestly, bell lines on 1953-S don't come much better than this, but PCGS just wont agree. Ironically, if you look at the images of FBL 1953-S's on Coinfacts, this one appears to be stronger...

Yes. We all gripe about grade inflation, but when it is to our own advantage we all want it (as long as the sticker man is keeping up with inflation) (.
if you get an upgrade, do you get charged 1% value guarantee insurance? So if it goes from MS66 to MS67 with guide values of $250 and $1700, you also pay $17 for guarantee?
Looks like I also got a zero, figured a sure plus or two in there at least. Oh well, the world continues as it was and I still really like the coins I sent in.
Honestly - this tread convinced me not to send some coins in. I guess the old saying that ownership is worth one point applies...and PCGS knows it. Congrats to those who got any upgrades.

I got my grades. ZERO upgrades, not even a plus! nada
What a waste of money. Now I have to endure my wife's beratement for tossing $$ out the window.
Sent several in. Got first batch of grades. ZERO upgrades, nada. Most were OGH and OBH. Something is not right.
Pictures and grade would help.
I submitted 6 coins, 1 by its lonesome. Grand total of 0 upgrades.

Hard to believe not one got a bump. Gorgeous coins.

My grades showed up last night. A big fat zero!
I’ll be sending in five coins after Thanksgiving. Will post results after.

Might want to reconsider.

This thread has been helpful, thanks!
Very, very helpful posts... Thanks! I can't believe that none of those Lincolns upgraded - not even a plus.

Update. Now 1 for 25 in sending in 20 -25 year old OGH and OBH.
Observation: the 1 was technically strong but the weakest eye appeal.

Cool PCGS number...6666. I guess the devil is in the details.

Let me know if you post that one for sale.
I went 0/8 on Peace Dollars that I was sure 6 would upgrade by at least a + grade.

Davewesen this is correct, except that you would pay the 1% for the difference in the grade value. In your example it would be $1,450.00, so $14.50.
I'm glad I read this thread. I was going to send some in.........NOT NOW! I can waste my money somewhere else!
What a crock!!
You only pay the 1% IF the coin upgrades.

Yea...I'm 2-fer-10 & I wasn't even going to submit one of the ones that got a +
In the future, unless it has a bean on it, I'm not sending it in.

So why run a special that you know is going to tick everyone off?
lol

So, based on these results, not a good chance that my 16 D from other thread will upgrade??
