It looks like PCGS finally nuked the disagree button. Maybe we can now have some sanity. :)

Edited: Flagging is now limited too. The only option is to report to the moderator. Its tally has been removed as well.

    I just went to my profile, and a big "User Banned" icon almost knocked me over. Thought I was toast, until I saw it was actually a message from a banned member and I was looking at HIS icon. Apparently, I accidentally hit "disagree" instead of "like" on one of his posts and he took umbrage at my reaction.
    Unintentional, I swear!
    I will miss that member, but I will not miss the disagree button. I've probably hit it a few times accidentally, just trying to scroll on my cell phone!

    maybe they'll replace it with a "don't like" button

    I did that once myself while scrolling on my phone. Of course the disagree went to one of the nicest people in the forum that doesn’t deserve any negative comments. I promptly removed the disagree once it was brought to my attention.

    So let me get this straight. The DISAGREE button is gone. So now if I want to disagree with you, I just have to tell you, I disagree. Wow, how hard can that be? If you think a coin is a MS 65 and I think it's a MS 63, I'm going to just converse and tell you I disagree with your grading and here's why. Trolls just like pushing buttons and found a few members that they could push too.

  • Options

    I don't believe i never used them only by accident. They always seem to get in the way as I navigate the board.

    I disagree, and I'll tell you why:

    I think what you suggest is unlikely!

    Exact same thing happened to me, once she let me know, reversed it instantly.

    Thank goodness. It served no useful purpose. I never used the disagree button. If I disagreed with a member; I would always simply state the reason in my post. Wise move PCGS.

    What were the categories removed? It seems that they were "Abuse", "Spam" and "Disagree". Were there others?

    I know it's just wishful thinking, but I have this fantasy that the moderators sat down today and took a long hard look at the nonsense that happened over the weekend, decided to zap the disagree and other offending buttons, and then decided to also reinstate (most of) the banned members. Oh well, I can dream, can't I?

    In any case, I am glad that the incendiary buttons are gone, and I thank the PCGS forum moderators for that. I also predict that their job will now be easier since they won't have to deal with nearly as many retaliatory flags.

    Disabled buttons/Categories:
    Flag --> Abuse
    Flag --> Spam
    Disagree

    Tallies for these categories were either erased or hidden as there is no reference on users' profile pages anymore.

    The flag report option is still there and remains unchanged.

    Good move. It's easy enough to write a response if you actually do disagree with something. The button was probably just gas for the flame wars.

    Please let (most) of the banned people come back. They're great contributors and they post valuable content.

    FWIW, I was curious and checked the stats for a certain member who earned a record breaking negative point total, and he is still in the red. So the disagree and various flag counts are gone, but the negative points are still there. I don't see any downside for anyone at this point, though.

    Also, the new streamlined flag button does not seem to have a space on user stats, so I think it is now truly just an alert for the mods.

    Glad they deleted the disagree button, and hope that the valued members who have contributed so much are allowed back on the forum.
