Now worth 29K. I'm so happy for him too as he is without question the man when it comes to grading these Buffs.
-This comment takes the cake. You leave 20 Grand on the table and are so happy about it and the dealer, who is that much richer? This is crazy talk and no one would/should be happy about that.
Do you have anything else to add?
You can't really be happy about leaving the 20K on the table. This whole post is bizarre, and I have no doubt the dealer is a nice guy. You make it sound like you are thrilled that someone else got the real money on a coin you owned, when you could have also just submitted it a few more times yourself. You even stated you felt it was 66+ or 67. (Which makes this even more bizarre by the way) I am sure I am not alone in thinking that is strange, but no one else speaks up once the herd mentality takes over in a thread.
Finally, isn't this dealer also adding to the perceived Grade-Flation by submitting over and over again?
Sometimes in the world of coin collecting it is not just about the money. It is about forging good solid relationships with trusted individuals.
The true reward comes back many fold.

First: Eye catching & beautiful Buff! Congratulations. It's a great feeling when you get a coin that nice.
Second: Andy is the best. He is a wonderful dealer but more than that, I consider him a real friend. Very recently, I was going through my Lincolns and marveling at how much Andy has helped me build my collection. All the way, from the first coin I bought from him (pictured as my avatar, total coincidence!) to the most recent - he has treated me with respect, kindness and total honesty. Alynne is wonderful too and they are special people for sure.
Third: Go Pens...Andy is a die hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan and somehow he got me to join along.
Finally: Enjoy! Although obviously you don't need me to tell you that
Andy has also been a true friend to me. His knowledge on buffalo nickels has bowled me over from the gate. I have gravitated to him for his honesty and integrity.
Thank you for the kind words.

Andy, with his great knowledge and wisdom of grading sent that same 16-d in 4 times. On the forth submission it graded 66+ . Now worth 29K.
Two observations here:
-Great knowledge and wisdom of grading? He sent it in enough times until it upgraded. New flash, you could have easily done the same. (It does not take any wisdom or knowledge to simply resubmit coins over and over again.)
-Great friend? You put 15-20K in the guys pocket and that makes him a great friend? He should be the one posting this about you.
You should be ashamed of the way you carry yourself on this forum. I’m not exactly sure why it’s tolerated. You go around and unscrupulously flag and disagree with good folks for no apparent reason. I sure would like you to explain away the flags and disagrees you gave me and others on this thread.

I would bet that is someone's alt account that they use for stirring up trouble. Not sure how else to explain the consistent negativity in all of their posts. While he/she might bring up some decent points at times, it can be done with much more tact. Disagreements are fine but there's no need to start a fight about it.

It’s tough. I flagged him cause I do not like his resentful contribution and negative tone. So, in turn, he went back and flagged comments and he gave me more than I can count disagrees that don’t even make any sense. He went back and did this AFTER I slept on flagging him or not for his negative bs. Seems like someone has some serious issues and it’s not me.
Carry on

Don't let it have any effect because he's done this same thing before! He did this to a friend of mine. Went into all the posts and disagreed with all of them! Crazy! I don't get the negativity or vindictiveness. Gosh! You get a great coin, you're treated in a special way and somehow he thinks this requires criticism?
I say, don't worry, be happy. There are nice folks on the forum and those are the ones who deserve attention. You still have your great coin. Nothing he says can change that. Andy is wonderful and does things that are above and beyond. He can't undo that either.
As to the "point of contention", Andy supplies the energy and the will to make upgrades successful. He applies his experience, superior eye and careful planning to get upgrades. He's done it for me and has a 50% success rate! One coin went up 2 whole grades! That should count as two! I never would have been able to pull that off on my own. The capper is that he includes the customer in the gains even after the "deal is done".
The only motivation I can see that would bring someone to criticize this would be jealousy, pure and simple.
Anyways, I say; ENJOY your beautiful Buffalo. Also, Andy is the man!

Back in the spring of this year, a friend who's a Lincoln collector picked up about 250 raw, red Lincoln's and asked me to take a shot at grading them. I poured over them with my limited Lincoln knowledge and separated out about 15 I thought were the nicest.
I then brought them to the Central States show in Schaumburg, Ill. where Angel Dee's was in attendance. Mind you, I've never bought a thing from the man but he was kind enough to offer (obviously non binding) grading opinions ensuring that the coins submitted to PCGS were sufficiently worthy of encapsulating (MS 66's in most cases).
Two went MS 67, about 6 went MS 66, with the balance of the 16 coins grading MS 65 or MS 64 while being much tougher dates. With Lincolns it's easy to have a coin not worth the price of encapsulation, these all were worth the cost.
Andy quickly pointed out the area I was not focusing on enough and that saved my ass.
I'm often tough with my comments about Dealers and coin shows based upon my experience with each. In this case the man deserves "props" for certainly doing right by me. Glad this thread was created so I could chime in.

Years ago Andy asked me to find a nice restaurant close to the Santa Clara coin show and to book it for 16-18 people. He then invited some of his best customers and coin-friends who lived in the area, along with their SO's, to a wonderful dinner party. A little show-and-tell followed. @crazyhounddog and @SanctionII were there, along with their wives. Others I should remember.
Andy and Alynne treated everyone. Just because. That's the kind of people the Skrabalaks are. Warm, considerate and generous.
They did this on several other occasions of which I was a part -- smaller spontaneous dinners following shows.
I was happy to return the favor six or seven years ago. It was just the two of us and we talked coins and grading, of course...for nearly two hours. I felt like a university freshman attending a lecture by the department head.

As anyone that has stumbled upon this thread can see there is a lot of love for Andy and his wife.
His service with his customers reminds me when I would roll into a gas station back in the 50’s with my dad in his big Cadillac. Anyone my age remembers too how the gas station attendants really did attend to your car. They’d coming running out of the garage wiping there’s hands off to throw open the hood and check the fluid levels, not just the oil, while this other guy checks the tires and washed both windshields. It was called, service. Those days are gone but I’m happy to say we still have guys like, Andy.
Thank you to all good folks for chiming in and sharing what a great guy he is. When it comes to Buffalo Nickels, Andy is my rockstar.
Happy hunting, Joe

Andy doesn't take trades (or so he told me) so that still kind of rubs me the wrong way.
He did offer to take a coin in trade that I bought from him a few years earlier (I still had the invoice) but that was it as far as cashing in on any inventory that I had to offer.
He does have nice coins but a bad business practice?

I'm thinking that his comments were limited to whatever it is you were interested in trading. Here is what the Angel Dees website says:
"Trading
We will gladly consider taking your quality coins in trade. Please contact us to discuss mutually agreeable terms of trading."
"We are also interested in repurchasing any coins we have sold to you. Since we liked them enough to sell them the first time, we would love to have them back to sell again! The price you paid will be considered, as well as current market value, to determine the purchase price."

Andy does take trades, but it depends on a lot of things. Does he need or want the item your trading and at the price you want for it? Is his coin nicer than what you are offering or more rare or harder to replace? Is his coin on consignment and the owner doesn't want to trade? Could it be a cash-flow issue where a trade currently isn't desirable? Dealers can't just trade because you want to. It has to be mutually beneficial. So maybe there were circumstances THAT DAY for THAT TRANSACTION that just couldn't work out.

Hi Joe!
Well I'm guessing Andy must have been in a bad mood this past April.
I brought a limited amount of cash because I had a boatload of certified (mostly PCGS) 2 Cent Pieces to trade or upgrade and he told me "I don't take trades".
Internet is one thing, but a major coin show? He also told me that my ANACS coins were not worth looking at, so I walked away.
This was the first day of public attendance and I was at his table at about 10:30 AM and the show opened at 10:00 AM.

I'm embarrassed to have forgotten @SkyMan. Besides Andy's fun dinner we met at a couple of shows and enjoyed lunch together, sharing newp's. @SkyMan is extraordinarily entertaining...if you can get past his outer space fixation.
Lance.
Good looking nickel!

Hey now,
Yes he does trade, Ray. He also purchases coins from you obviously. He’s the kinda a guy that will actually work with you on most anything is what I have experienced. Great inventory too.
Happy hunting, Joe
Andy didn't even want to look at what I had to offer so I walked.
Angel Dee's does have a VERY GOOD inventory of my series but it just didn't work that day for some reason. I did have a good show even though I had to do more leg work.
I’m sorry you had s bad experience my friend. All I can say I’ve never seen that side of, Andy.
