Just a suggestion: Since most people DON'T read the entire thread before posting, the OP could have saved himself some unnecessary "hits" by editing the original post, indicating that, "The coins are not the same. My mistake. Interesting die variety exhibited on both, however."
At least, every new reader wouldn't feel the need to state their opinion on the coins....maybe......

On the flip side, it's highly educational to compare the two different coins from the same die with similar die state- one market acceptable, one not. So, thanks for posting OP.
It is an interesting post, but I'm not quite sure what your comment means. The one is not market acceptable because of Post Mint cleaning, it's not related to die state.
They are two different coins, from the same die. which show pitting and a progressing die crack. One coin has been harshly cleaned; one is market acceptable. It is educational for learning about market acceptable surfaces as well as die state abnormalities. I didn't have to dig through auction records myself to do the comparison. I hope OP walked away from this thread with more knowledge than when it was created. What's not to get?

It sounded like you were saying that it was not market acceptable BECAUSE of the die state.

Well then, I'll consider this your first: "if you are here to lecture then go someplace else."
In my experience, time in the business or on a forum means virtually NOTHING! All of us make mistakes and some never learn.
@ARCO continued: "Let me ask you this Insider, besides determining whether a coin/date/mintmark is genuine or counterfeit, what other single thing in numismatics is not subjective to some degree or other?
Easy answer...I cannot think of anything important in numismatics that is NOT SUBJECTIVE and that includes authentication! Virtually everything depends on the person's knowledge of the subject.

Isn’t the horse dead yet?
Isnt it more humane to take your frustrations out on a dead horse than a live one?
The horses around here never really die.....

I find threads like this very educational... about coins (die states, diagnostic marks, etc), and about the people that frequent these boards...

Usually when I see posts (replies that is) that I disagree with that I think are outlandish, I just ignore them.
