Why hasn’t PCGS recognized the 1970 s DDO Lincoln Cent ?

It is certainly more pronounced than the
1971 DDO which is recognized.
It trades for many multiples of the 1971 DDO

Perhaps if all the Lincoln Cent collectors
E mail dh@collectors.com something will happen.

You talking about this one Stewart??? They do. But its only "required" in variety sets. Which does make you wonder why its not in the major variety sets which I am assuming your talking about?

    Hey Stewie,
Which one of the multitudes of pennies are you even talking about?

Coneca lists many DDOs for mint state strikes - 3 of which are recognized Cherrypickers varieties. And another bunch of DDOs for proofs - several of which are recognized Cherrypickers varieties.

Sorry to say, if you put a turd on the table, you ought to be more specific.

    Just sayin'

I would be embarrassed to email PCGS with the info you provided.

They only met once at a party for like five minutes, and PCGS had been drinking.

I understood what you wrote but am no closer to identifying the variety other than it is mint state. Never heard of the Water Sport reference.
    Cherrypickers lists:
    FS-01-1970S-101 (old designation 029)
    FS-01-1970S-103 (old designation 30.1)
    FS-01-1970S-1401 (old designation 30.2)

So I am still confused, but trying to help.

PCGS Pop reports show listings for FS 29 and 30.1 plus another listing undefined as to FS number.
Could you be speaking of FS 30.2?

Really? This is Stewart Blay. You know he is talking about the major ddo, FS-101. What else?

It (FS-101) is well described in PCGS CoinFacts with a "LEVEL: Minor Variety or Die Variety" coin number:
    http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/37999
Perhaps the decision to call it a "major" vs. "minor" variety is subjective.
Or maybe it is because the (more minor) FS-103 exists, and it felt wrong to promote one and not the other?
Given the prices it gets, it may indeed be time to promote it to "major".

Has to be the big one, FS-101

Just a sample from Variety Visa. Collectors have to "OD" at this spread.

Hardly a minor variety, and much more obvious and beats the 1971 by multiples in coolness factor.

Sorry for being terse last night - it was a long day of hurricane prep.

To recap thus far, it sounds like the variety in question is the 101 or 029 in old nomenclature. If so, PCGS already recognizes that variety and has graded a number of examples including the coin in the second post (I did not originally see this as I was composing my response). Also, the PCGS description (and Cherrypickers description), is that it is one of the strongest doubled dies for the cent series.

I am assuming that the request that Stewart made was for PCGS to list this coin in the major variety set. This makes sense to me.
