PCGS Dansco 7070 Modified Registry question

It has 3 spots for Indian Head Cents. My question is, if you put a Key or Semi Key like a 1908 S for instance in a lower grade like XF40, does the registry set recognize it’s a rarer coin and weight accordingly, or is it just looking at the XF40 in which case a MS65 common date would be scored higher?

    The weights of the coins are all based on the type, independent of the rarity of the date/mintmark. There will be one weight for each of the three Indian head types.

    So the MS65 common date will give a higher end value to a relatively more rare date XF 40 of the same type.

    @MathandBikes So in an IHC only date set then the key are weighed higher as @jmlanzaf describes, but in a type set with only one coin of each type, only the grade matters, IE a common 1903 MS65 will be worth much more than an key 1877 VG correct?

    Believe that is true! Each slot is weighted against different slots....so, for instance, tougher coins like Bust Quarters will be worth more than Indian cents in the same grade. But the weighting for the slot applies to ANY coins put in the slot. A common MS 65 will be worth more than a key XF coin.

    That 1913 Liberty nickel is an impressive coin to own! But it isn't going to win you extra type set registry points. (Assuming they allow it as a representative of the Liberty Nickels...I don't know). ;)

    @jmlanzaf So bonus and deductions based on BN RB or RD but not for key date vs common.
