Ebay does it again,,,,,,

Awhile back eBay changed the shipping label format. I used it and it was different but OK,,,,,,
UNTIL just now when I wanted to insure a coin I sold and the only insurance they offer is SHIP COVER which DOES NOT cover coins or bullion or a hundred other items.
eBay,,,,,,, fixes things that aren't broken then breaks them!!!!!

We know by now they don't care about sellers. That will never change.

Ebay has changed so much over the years and I don't think it's for the good!!!
HAPPY COLLECTING
GRANDAM, I just checked mine while getting ready to ship an item. I DO have USPS insurance as an option that still comes up in a drop down menu. Hopefully,... it is just a temporary glitch with something on your settings, etc.? If not, and shipcover is the only choice now, that would really change things for me...
I clicked on that drop down and Ship Cover was the only choice, I will call eBay this evening,
Thanks
Thanks for the notification, @GRANDAM
This is NOT correct. They still offer both UNLESS it is international in which case you cannot insure anything but Priority or Express. If you are shipping internationally using 1st Class International, the only option that will show up is shipcover.
It's not the fees, it's the market. When I started on eBay 20 years ago, the volume of listings was low and you could run an auction and be sure that the coin got up to a fair value. There are soooo many listings now, you don't dare start auctions at 1 cent like the old days because there's a good chance you'll end up selling it for 1 cent.
Not everything is eBay's fault. The lack of "true auctions" is a function of the success of the market place. It has nothing to do with the fees.
Well it is correct in my case, I shipped to California and I looked for 5 minutes and Ship Cover was the only choice for insurance.
There may be an issue with your browser/eBay. We had a similar problem with the eBay bucks a few weeks back. I'm not doubting what you saw, I just wanted to make it clear that this is NOT an eBay policy change
Ok, I will call them tonight and see what I can find out.
Thanks for all the answers.
I've been using private insurance when I decide to insure a shipment. Last time it was through shipinsure and had no problem insuring coins, $1.05 per $100.00 value. You can even buy it as late as the day after you ship.Otherwise you can always make a trip to the post office and buy the insurance there.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
That and most of the serious bidders use snipe tools. Fees not the only reason for fixed priced listings.
OK, after waiting 45 minutes for a call back from eBay then trying to explain to the "nice" lady my problem for another 22 minutes her suggestion was I can buy USPS Insurance from the Post Office.
I explained that I can't drive 15 miles 1 way to town every day to do so and I wouldn't if I could.
Then she suggested I call the Post Office and have them add insurance to the eBay label I print out,,,,,,,, I tried to explain to her this isn't possible. (REALLY,,,,,, I can't believe she actually suggested this)
Then her final suggestion was that I consult the eBay "HELP" page and she offered to e-mail me a link.
I surely do love and appreciate all the help eBay customer service is able to provide!
How do you purchase this insurance? Is it easy to use? Can you post a link to the Web Site?
Did you try a different browser?
Well, I just got the link and she sent me a link to:
"eBay Tax Policy"
However I found some interesting info there:
When you sell on eBay, it's up to you to ensure you're compliant with all applicable tax laws and regulations associated with using our services.
I guess this will drive me out at the end of the year as the hassell won't be worth it.
I mention this because it was discussed here a few weeks back when SCOTUS ruled states can collect sales tax on internet sales.
I will try a different browser but can't do so until I go to print another label.
Thanks for the suggestion.
The eBay lady looked and said she agreed ShipCover was the only insurance available to me?
Of couse I don't put much stock in anything she said,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Why would you not have access to the USPS insurance?
Awhile back eBay changed the shipping label format. I used it and it was different but OK,,,,,,
UNTIL just now when I wanted to insure a coin I sold and the only insurance they offer is SHIP COVER which DOES NOT cover coins or bullion or a hundred other items.
eBay,,,,,,, fixes things that aren't broken then breaks them!!!!!
I just shipped from ebay shipping and it offered both insurance types for me.
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Speakin a eBay, how does one get an unpaid item removed from one's myeBay page. The seller refunded my money as he couldn't ship the item won.
Thanks for the "heads-up" !!!
Do you have the new style shipping page? It was changed a couple weeks ago,,,,,,, at least that what shows for me.
I am going to try a different browser as suggested next time.
Call them,,,,,, they will be more than willing to help you with their vast knowledge of how their system works.
Isn't California is a foreign country now?
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
Go to top right and select classic style or whatever and it returns to old format can’t recall what it’s called / suggest google issue.
Doing this old style returns enabling you select usps. I will post more direct when can use / early am have go to consulting project. Ship cover does not cover coins / bullion.
The first time got hosed w this had anger meltdown. We’re they disallow usps ins option would kill my online business.
The market is absolutely horrible. I have show coming up don’t expect make enough even clear table fee. Many are simply liquidating before it sinks further.
I just checked this am, and for both priority mail and 1st class, BOTH USPS and ship cover were offered.
Same drop down menu was available for both. Check your browser or what defaults you have loaded. I do not think it is an ebay issue, but end user issue.
shipandinsure.com rates are far below anything else for collectibles. But you have to pay a membership fee each year of around $150, but if you ship alot, it buys back very quickly.
Best, SH
I had the same drop down as shown above but USPS was not these, I clicked on the "ADD INSURANCE" and only ShipCover was there.
@GRANDAM, check out shipsurance.com that's what I used.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Thanks!
OK, I just printed another label and,,,,,,,
Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before but I printed it thru PayPal and got USPS Insursnce.
I did try via eBay and I still only had ShipCover Ins,,,,,,,,, no USPS.
My label thru PayPal still had the same shipping discount as thru eBay,,,,,, $2.66 plus the insurance.
Go yo top right and select classic style label.
It worked for me today, not sure what the formatting issue is for you. I never cease to be amazed at how dumb their system is and how easy it would be for them to default your listings to US as collectible origin and other defaults if that is 99% of what you are selling.
OK, I printed another label and tried this and it worked.
My question is why doesn't eBay customer service know this?
Thanks for the help.
