What's optimal "lead time" for listing in an auction?

topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm curious if any of you have tested various lead times to sell coin/s at auction.
I'm speaking of the time to get it shown in upcoming sales.

Early? Just before sale?

And do you apply the rule to coins based on rarity?

This is not for eBay but for Heritage, Stacks, B&M, etc. like those.

I'm wondering if collector interest drives people to search early or if they are just as satisfied to wait for catalog publication.

Thanks for any insight you might wish to share.

:)

Particularly scarce and/or pricey, the longer lead the better.

More common coins up to $10,000. Heritage minimum lead time is fine.
