Always a collector - In the 60's my allowance was 10¢ a week, and Matchbox cars were 50¢ (Mom kicked in the 2¢ sales tax). I had a lot of these and later Hot Wheels when my allowance was 25¢.
I sold this and my other few remaining on eBay about 8 years ago.
@Paradisefound Thanks for the thread, some of the toys posted bring back some early memories. Some of you had some really cool stuff. Having just immigrated to the USA we were poor, so my toys were pretty basic.
This is one of my first toys when we moved to the USA in 1969. It's a Greyhound tour bus and I still have it.
The Star Wars figures came out when I was 6 and I ran with that till I was 12. My parents saved all of this stuff and gave it back to me when I was prob 25. It’s been on display in my study ever since. Also Lord of the Rings, Calsh of the Titans, Indiana Jones, Tron and a few fandoms. The GI Joe is a good one and I add to his rifle rack when I can.
The Verti-bird brings some fond memories of my childhood. Not sure if I got it for Christmas or not but I had so much fun playing with it. I forgot about this childhood toy. Thanks for the memory.

Nice display, looks very organized. Well done.

In 1965 Mom & Dad separated briefly, so Christmas of 65 was good with the competition and Tonka's came into my life, and a lot of them...............I did grow up to be a heavy equipment operator in the lumber industry.
My brother always got the toys. But he was older and made great use of model rockets, legos, model airplanes and cars, HAM radio, circuit boards and chemistry stuff. He was a brilliant kid. Installed an antenna on our roof at age 11 and wired the house for dialup.
I finally dug these out. The only new thing is the plastic container for the larger loupe. Dad gave me the 20x when I got serious about collecting. He found the square one a few weeks ago and sent it to me.
I gave the Whitman to my dad in 1986 in 4th grade. I found every wheat myself and didn't want to cheat buying them.
He gave it back to me when I finished grad school, and said he was proud of me seeing things through ever since I was a boy.
The three of us spent more time going to shows and roll searching, searching coffee cans and buckets, the household change jar etc. than most anything else. Well, fishing and baseball and scouts. Very happy memories of Mom being able to take a day for herself while the 3 boys played with coins.
Here are some of my childhood toys 35 years later.
Careful what you say. The last thing we need here is PETA.
jajajajaja or hahahaha
Pigeons are the dirtiest, disease carrying birds. Horrible unless you like squab!
Unfortunately my aim is horrible and when the pellet hits them it just bounces off and they just laugh and fly away to come back later. Bring it on PETA! I bet even PETA can't vouch for these vile critters!!

We had the usual stuff, toy trucks and cars and bikes. We liked it better playing in the creek "crick" where I'm from. Also the barn was a great place to climb and have fun and we did use sticks as whatever your little mind could imagine. A gun, a sword, a club, etc. But the first "toy" that was my absolute favorite at 10 years old was one of these and I will vouch that these things can take an absolute beating and keep going.

The youngest I can remember was a monkey with banana, boy I really liked him
Then as I got older it was a daisy air rifle, no pellets or bbs.

Stef, I remember having one of those monkeys. Your picture jarred my memory.

I'm not a big collector of old tin toys. However, when my grandmother passed a bunch of years ago I wanted to have these two pieces. I passed on all kinds of other items that my siblings desired, jewelry, pottery, silver settings, etc. These are not the only items I have from my grandmother, but these are my favorites!
Oh yes, I had to go hunt down a wind-up key for the set to get them moving again after many, many years tucked away!

Those are in great shape - and with the boxes! Did you know that Little Orphan Annie offered a collection of foreign coins back in the day? Might be a nice "go with" for an exhibit.
I have extra for each so you may pick either one of them including the "Winged Liberty" if you wish....Just can't be dup between the two of you otherwise I have to order more from Dan
So @Smudge you go first and @Kkathyl may follow
