Flawed Planchet or PMD? Or...can anyone tell from cruddy photos?

A dream of mine is to someday have a better camera setup...but for now the following will have to do. Anyway I have a 1857 FE cent that has some issues...to me it looks like a flawed planchet as the detail in the flawed area is less worn than the rest and if it were PMD caused by someone whacking the coin I would expect to see some effect on the reverse. Is this an accurate guess?

Damage, without a doubt
Geez Fred...I was hoping you would provide your invaluable insight, just not so fast! Killed my thread
Seriously though, I appreciate it!

OK, normally I don't answer the threads so quickly,
but I happened to be in front of the computer checking
out CU when I saw your posting. Glad I could help......
Geez, even I could figure this one out. At least it wasn't pocket change you were posting. Maybe this FE cent belonged to CoinSide7's great-great-grandfather.
