Once working in a convenience store, I super-glued a nickel to the floor. Soooo many customers tried to pick it up....then just gave up. I think almost everyone fell for that gag. Such excitement.....WOO HOO A NICKEL......then the sour grapes syndrome.....aww it's just a nickel.

    1976 or 77.
As a kid, I picked up some crisp new $2 bills at the bank.
I tried to spend one to buy a hot chocolate at my brother's hockey game.
The women selling the drinks would not accept it, and accused me of printing it in my basement.

    In 2010 I owed the driver of a ride-sharing group $3.00.

I gave him three presidential dollars (Millard Fillmore) and he asked me if they were "play money".

I knew then that this coin program would not be a success.

Back in 1967 I used to catch the bus and go downtown to visit the local savings and loan. When I gathered up enough money from odd jobs, I would buy rolls to search through.

It just so happened that I was working on my Jefferson Nickel book at the time. I walked out the front door, couldn't wait, and opened up a roll.

I tore the top off too fast and all the Nickels spilled out on the ground. I spent a whole lot of time furiously picking them up. I looked real good. Thought I got them all.

Then I spotted Martin coming up the street headed in my direction. Martin was a local homeless man who lived underneath a bridge. Everyone knew him. he was harmless.

I watched him pass me. As he passed, he spotted a Nickel, scooped it up, and kept walking.

It upset me, having spent so much time making sure I got all of them, then BLAM, in an instant, Martin got one.

Just goes to show you, the eyes of a young person are no match for the experienced eyes of a man that had been around a bit.

While vacationing in Upper Wisconsin (boondocks) I went into a local tavern that had literally hundreds of dollar bills, some $5's and an occasional $10 & $20 stuck to the ceiling behind the bar. Of course curiosity got me when I asked about all the money stuck to the ceiling of the dimly lit bar. He said, you give me a dollar, I will put a thumb tack through it, throw it up and it will stick to the ceiling! Once a year all the proceeds go to a local charity.

Well, I had to see this for myself and as all the locals watched me hand over a paper bill, they already knew the skill involved would make this bill stick to the ceiling also. Sure enough, with a flick of his arm the bill shot straight up and stuck! What I didn't see in the dimly lit bar was he was using a half dollar coin to drive the bill up and with enough force to imbed the tack holding up the bill. What you also didn't see as you were amazed looking up at the bill was him catching the fifty cent piece and pocketing it.

He got me and all the rubes that proceeded me, entertainment for the locals and for a good cause.

    Here is my Income Tax filing break;

    Melanie: "Really?"
Grandpa: "Sure! If she craps out two dimes and a nickel, then you can start worrying, huh?"
