Grades popped - Not looking. Thank you PSA.

I feel like a kid again as I wait for my cards to return home in their new, beautiful holders.
A renewal sub that logged on 12/11 was just shipped, and should be here by Friday.

Has anyone else not looked at their grades before opening the package ??
It feels like I'm going to be opening up a pack of 12 cards. First time I've ever done this.

Me too. Very chronic in waiting to see if my order has finished. I do miss them. The grades aren't important as I am collecting these, not selling these. Really just wanted them all in holders.

Agreed. I have no patience. I do like to sneak up on each card, line by line, though.

As fun as it is to be surprised by your grades, you're missing out on the opportunity to have PSA correct any possible errors before shipping.

True. Talked to a nice guy on the phone about my order after he received it. All should be good on this simple 12 card order. However, point taken.

I love the thought of waiting until the cards arrive in the mail, but I am proactively contacted by PSA to sign off on the upcharges on the occasional monster that I hit in my order.

They did hire some help and let the forum know about it.

Beautiful cards! So the top middle one was deemed not authentic?

Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.

Yes. PSA did not deem it authentic even though I pulled it from a vending case years and years ago. It is perfect on the back, but OPC cut it before the black ink was rolled on the front. There are about 10
of these cards left in existence from the 69 opc high series.

Here is what a proper Stanley Cup card looks like from that year.

Out of curiosity, why did you only have the autos graded? I only ask because the cards themselves look amazing.

Didn't even know about the card grade/auto grade. Found out after the fact. Secondly, I'm not a huge fan of card grading. Too much subjectivity, and once had a PSA 8 of mine cracked, resubmitted, and came back a 10. My cards are in the range of EX-MT+ to Gem Mint, with a HUGE emphasis on centering. I'll take a 50/50 PSA 7 over a 65/35 PSA 9 every day of the week. That's just my preference. On that note, this Conn Smythe card is IMPOSSIBLE to find 50/50. This is the best centered one I've ever seen, and I've looked for over 30 years. It's one of my favorites. (Sorry about the long answer)

Very nice! did you send these in to GNR?

  • MrHockeyMrHockey Posts: 555 ✭✭✭

I think PSA won't grade blackless versions... it's not that they think it is fake.

I think I've paid for a few rounds of golf for Bobby and Ron over the years. :)

Gotta speak up and say something about that Blue PSA/DNA Label.....its putrid looking and does not benefit the collector in any way, shape and form in terms of impression. Its a bad dream....Now the regular red one? No problem whatsoever ~the new light house emblem is attractive, much more secure and far less primitive looking than the one that preceded it....the blue label looks like an escaped prisoner from Cell Block D.

@Bosox1976 ~ imagine the blue PSA/DNA holder if it were gold colored.... a different impression altogether.... I might even start collecting autos if the holder had a gold leaf instead of that gloomy, dismal blue label....it makes the card look terminally sick
