Hollow threat from PayPal if they were dumb enough to even make it. It would tank their stock, first of all. Second of all, they make money processing payments - any payments. They aren't married to eBay. Only 10-12% of their revenue/profits comes from eBay.

A quick crash course on this Adyen company reveals that it's a privately held company based in Amsterdam. Their website seems to mostly be full of fluffy stock photos, and of them telling us how great they are, without really being too clear why or how https://adyen.com/ I wonder how many casual coin sellers and buyers will make this transition so easily.

Use of a credit card via paypal does not reduce your buyer protection. Initiating a CC chargeback is your second line of defense.
And if a chargeback is made paypal deals with the CC company and fights for the seller.

^^ Also if you do a credit card chargeback, Paypal will almost certainly ban you, especially if it's a large chargeback.. Those who tout this option always fail to mention that.

Did anyone else have to login to PayPal for a new Terms of Service and Seller Agreement before making a new ebay listing?
Or is that just because I'm suddenly selling a lot of expensive stuff after a few years of buying?

I didn't read the posts, sorry if this was already covered, but it seems like Ebay wishes to copy the Amazon seller model in which Amazon does all the card processing from the buyers, then makes the sellers wait up to two weeks for their money.
The days on Ebay where the buyer payment went instantly into the seller's PayPal account, could be coming to an end.
That's my take on it from these greedy bastiges.

EBay would lose a number of small sellers, and I don’t think the aggregate losses are as inconsequential as many think. EBay stock would likely tank.
