Did anyone really think they were getting an ounce of silver for $.99? No, not if they had enough brains to operate a computer.

Mine seem to iron covered with a silver -colored plating, since a magnet attracts them.

I knew they were phony - I bought 5 as gag gifts.

I guess many (see his recent feedback) feel the need to "punish" this seller since the item is clearly not as described, but this seems kind of snarky and hypocritical since buyers had to know the sale was for fakes.

i dont think its snarky or hypocritical at all. A seller cannot represent an item (using stock photos of real items) and then switch the item he is sending. REGARDLESS of the price he is selling them for.

I bought 8 (had $8 in eBay bucks). They were pretty much exactly what I expected despite the listing error. I like them. I'm leaving positive feedback.

I've already given away 2 of them to a couple colleagues of mine with whom I've discussed cryptos in the past. Well worth it!

I don't flash myself as being Savvy??? What does that have to do with a little fun? Anyway, I only bought 6 and knew they wouldn't be silver. I did think they were cool looking and bought them for that reason and a little curiosity. What does concern me is a seller being able to change titles, descriptions and pictures of an item after being sold. This seems like pure fraud to me! I thought these were cooler with the lettering of silver and the limited edition numbers. Plated copper is not all that cool! Lol

If these were plated copper that would be cool. If they are plated iron... labeled as copper... that is not cool!

All of them are pretty sticky aren't they. I have a few shiny colored disks and some capsules for a pretty cheap price. Time to break one open and see what they look like I guess. I am still amazed at how they make money on these with material, labor, capsule and shipping.

  • Batman23Batman23 Posts: 5,001 ✭✭✭✭✭

These are soft steel disks, they spark very well under a grinder. You can see and feel the edge where the blanks were punched from the strip. The silver one has a coppery color layer underneath the silver layer. Both of which are extremely thin.

On a positive note, I now have a capsule to hold my one ounce copper medallion from the NRA dinner.

I'm not sure what is wrong with you folks. You bought them knowing they were not silver but you want to just hand it to the seller and get them for free. Why?

I emailed the seller after I received mine and told them that I was very satisfied, but that they should be aware that their listing was incorrect and was calling them 0.999 fine silver despite the change in title. Someone named "Jane" emailed back and said, "Did you not receive your item?". I tried again and got a response that said something like "We are glad you got your item, are you satisfied with it?". I sent a third email and "Jane" finally responded that she would contact the "seller" and ask them to check their listing.

They barely speak English. They probably don't even know what the listing says. The cloned it from somewhere else and got it messed up. Is that a good business practice? No. Does it end up being deceptive? Yes. WERE YOU DECEIVED? I doubt it.

I'm more concerned with the ethics of some of you than the original seller.

Did I think I was getting solid silver for .99 each? No. Was I deceived? ABSOLUTELY First, i bought 100 of them before i ever came across this thread. After my purchase, I was googling the item because i knew something was amiss and stumbled onto this. I believed i was buying an item that was represented in the pic. One that SAID .999 solid silver, stamped with a number on the side, and along with a certificate of authenticity. ALL as the ad claimed. Now ive learned it will be stamped .999 solid copper (which it is NOT). To claim this seller made mistakes based on his lack of speaking english is naive. He knew exactly what he did. If the seller wishes to send me a prepaid return shipping label, im happy to send them back. but i will NOT pay for an item that was clearly mis-represented and not what i thought i was getting (purposeful or not).

The seller has been gradually correcting the listing as things are pointed out to him/her. You can call me naive, but I exchanged emails with them. They clearly do not understand English very well.

You may have been deceived, which is why you bought 100, but many of the others who ordered them AFTER finding this thread knew they were incorrectly listed.

  • BigABigA Posts: 2,715 ✭✭✭✭

Exactly..and the listing for the ".999 copper" coin still says both "plated iron" AND pure .999 silver and has the edge number (not!)

If the coin was as pictured i would not have an issue..it is a totally different product. It's not about the silver content. That was a given

Maybe its me but I don't see how you guys are deceived by the listing. CLEARLY you guys went in KNOWINGLY its not the real .9999 silver rounds. Doesn't matter if he/she changes the descriptions afterward, its still not the real thing.

These returns reminded me of the Xmas tree return story at Costco. Just because you could doesn't mean you should.

It's more like they are returning the lottery ticket after it didn't win.

They are fun. I give them away. Well worth the 99 cents.

Even tho we knew they wouldn't be silver doesn't give the seller the right to change listings and product after the sale. It sounds to me that you don't mind ebay being flooded with chinese sellers that rip off people everyday on ebay. This concerns me more about ethics of individuals. Ebay has shown that they don't care about honest sellers, only thier revenue created by any sales. These chinese rip-offs need to be removed. If you condone thier practices, then you are no better than anyone else.

I have read none of this thread. Only the title. I'll say this. I think Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. So...how do you think I felt when I found out that the lovely Mrs. Hydrant just bought $5,000 worth of Bitcoin? Oh, God! Anyway, I'll tell you how I feel about it. When I spend $10,000 at the Long Beach show next week I won't care. I'll have nothing to explaine. Unless.......are coins a Ponzi scheme?

Not only did the seller falsely advertise them as silver....the "coins" arrived and are stamped ".999 COPPER" (FRAUD #1 as coin was misrepresented) and yet a magnet is strongly attracted to them (FRAUD #2 as the coin isn't even what it claims to be). I had no sympathy for this scam artist seller and received my full refund.

Others have said the seller didn't speak very good English. The seller copied another seller's ad word for word in listing his pieces,,,,,,,,, used the same photos as well.

I suspect a helper who didn't read English very well set-up the For Sale AD.

Rrrrrrrright.....and with his coin priced at $500 this seller surely believes his coin is authentic. It is very thoughtful of him to include a photo of the coin which clearly shows it to read ".999 COPPER" (which would suggest to me that it, too, would be drawn to a magnet).
