That's exactly right. Also the reason I cringe at the thought of attempting to sell coins on ebay. A scamming buyer could be holding a fake, win my auction and make a claim that's what I sent them.

I had another instance where I purchased $5K in gold maple leafs and received an empty box. Only thing that saved me there was they required signature confirmation and I wasn't home at the time so had to pickup from local post office. The second they handed me the box I could tell it was empty. I immediately requested the postmaster and opened with him as my witness. Still took over a month to get my refund and turns out he scammed 3 others buyers at the same time. Last I was able to check his account was still active, go figure.

I guess the good news for me is both times I was able to recover my funds.

All of the overseas seller claimed 2500 limited mintage yet if you add all the pieces they sold; it has exceeded 2500's without those genuine ones sold by US seller.

I just bought a genuine one by Osborne Mint from a US seller for $77. Let see how it compare. I'll test it and share the pix.

Unless it's different with an overseas seller, the seller would have to pay return shipping if it is not as described. It would cost more than the item is worth, so they would probably just give you a refund and tell you to keep them.

So, the smart people here on this board buy the "pure silver" ones for 99 cents each, free shipping, file an SNAD against the seller, get there 99 cents back, and the seller has a total loss.

This wipes out 2% of their sales, on an item with a 43 cents per item profit, so they are still WAY ahead.

I bought 5 of those cheap China ones and April 1st is rapidly approaching. I think I'll freak a few people out!!

So i stumbled across this thread, as i too came across this "silver coin" on EBay. at .99 each. My greed got the best of me. i ordered 100 of them and have tracking confirmation that they are on their way. Id like to know, being that they were misrepresented clearly, using fake pics (that say .999 solid silver NOT .999 solid copper) what will i need to do thru EBay to get my money back. i have NO intentions on paying to have them returned.
Do we even know if they are metal or plastic?

My 5 bitcoins came today ....
Not bad quality coin, good conversation piece to carry around and mess with your friends and acquaintance's.
Still amazes me they can send 5 of these with plastic case from China to USA for $3.95

so is it a metal coin or plastic? any metals guys out there that can get to the bottom of what they really are? i have 100 of them on the way. i play poker and looking to sell them to my crypto-buying buddies as card protectors

They feel hefty, so I would say they are at least metal of some sort. I only ordered 5, and I figured they would not be silver, BUT they were advertised as silver, so I am still leaning on filing a dispute as well. Sellers should not be able to deceive like this even if the deal was still decent.

They are metal I don't know how anyone could think they are plastic.

The shipping label says something about plastic, probably just to get around customs without issues. If you have not seen or felt them in hand yet, that is why there was confusion.

What do you consider the real thing? It looks exactly like the silver plated copper version found on ebay, as that is what it is. Also, I noticed they changed the title of the listing to "silver plated" now, but the pictures still show the .999 silver ones.

This is what is strange to me also. I ordered 6 with my measley ebay $6 I had. Nothing to lose. Lol Of course the auction showed a coin with .999 silver and the title stated they were silver. What I don't understand now is how the seller can change his title to silver plated after a purchase is made. How can ebay let someone get away with changing descriptions and titles after purchases are made? I'm gonna keep mine as they are kind of cool, worthless, but cool. Lol

I too ordered 6 of the solid silver version which now show silver plated iron. Seems odd that they are allowed to switch out the title on already purchased and shipped coins. The description still states solid silver though. Note: I did not really expect to get solid silver coins.

I also ordered 2 of the solid copper version at the same time and I also ordered 2 of the solid gold version at the same time. I am expecting the solid gold ones to be as advertised

Both of the copper and gold talk about "color" and plating.

Guess I'll see what I get when they arrive. I have wasted $10 on much worse.

Regardless of what the ad said, did anybody here really think they were going to get 1oz of silver for 99 cents.

Although they are worth the 99 cents I paid I filed a complaint because of the misleading listing

Did anyone really think they were getting an ounce of silver for $.99? No, not if they had enough brains to operate a computer.

Mine seem to iron covered with a silver -colored plating, since a magnet attracts them.

I knew they were phony - I bought 5 as gag gifts.

I guess many (see his recent feedback) feel the need to "punish" this seller since the item is clearly not as described, but this seems kind of snarky and hypocritical since buyers had to know the sale was for fakes.
