I would think if you have nice CAC (understanding not all CAC coins are nice) coins why would you want to sell sight unseen? If your stuff is good I think a dealer would pay more after viewing. JMHO
Merry Christmas to all!!!
Blue sheet IMHO is and has always been a waste. It has been a failure since it started. Save for commodities like generics, coins are not meant to be traded sight unseen
This CAC pricing should be back in the Greysheet. Most likely a ploy to get more people to buy the Bluesheet, since the rest of the Bluesheet is worthless, at least to me.
I've contacted cac and have generally been happy with what they offer with the green bean.
Example, later date Bust 50c AU55 cac, under $400 offer. Bust 50c AU58 cac, around $700. Greysheet was more. First I tried ebay for a few weeks, you will generally get low ball offers at a price where you will lose a lot of money vs. what cac offers.
Remember that there is no such thing as CAC sight-unseen... all of those coins have been "seen" and approved by CAC. So... CAC should be paying at least those bid prices, right?

As I understand it, the bids posted in the "sheets" titled (CAC) are not actual bids that cac is posting, and just because it states the work CAC in the sheet does not imply at all that is what CAC is willing to pay. The (CAC) "prices" are what Greysheet perceives to be the value of (CAC) coins. Same with their regular price reporting. The listed numbers are what they perceive to be the value.

2 things:
1) Coins trade daily in either pcgs or ngc holders constantly Sight unseen. The fact is similar to cac in that they were seen by 3 graders each whom determined that the coin met certain criteria to grade a certain way.
The dealer networks were partially created so that coins can be traded Sight unseen (knowing that a grading service gave it a grade allowed buyers to feel confident in the product they were getting.)
With the grading standard changing today, the product "quality" is no longer as consistent to the original designation standard and therefor a more sight seen market today is alot more necessary.
One thing that cac has done is to reintroduce that trust and standard inside the coin market. CAC coins now trade among dealers Sight unseen (and not just to cac) because they trust Johns grading abilities and standards to not change.
Do mistakes happen? Of course- But I will guarantee that take 100 random coin in a date and grade and place them next to 100 random cac of the same date/grade and the cac pile will for sure look nicer.
2) CAC would only be paying those bids if those were real network bids which I understand they are NOT. These bids are the opinion of the greysheet/bluesheet team that determines what they believe a cac coin is valued at.

i have tried selling for blue sheet cac bid multiple times without success.
Let me rephrase. Do the dealers actually pay the new CAC prices sight unseen for the coins?
A lot of dealers don’t get bluesheet nowadays so they don’t see cac prices
Help the unknowing... so Bluesheet now has sight unseen CAC prices? For what coins?

It's difficult to understand why anyone would buy or sell "sight unseen" any tangible object which is valued based upon its appearance.

I suspect it's just CAC's bids.

Wasn't this the "logic" of 1987?
Does blue sheet equal scru sheet?

What a great explanation!
