2014 Investment Contest. Where are they today?

WingsruleWingsrule Posts: 3,308 ✭✭✭✭

Someone recently asked how some of the past winners were doing, so I thought I would pull up some of the old data and update. Sitting in DTW so I have some time to kill.

The top five finishers for 2014 are shown below along with their best performing pick and where they would be today had they held them thru 12/15/17.

Pos / name / 2014 total / Best Pick / Current total

1 / renman95 / 19,376 / KIQ / 1,318
2 / s4ny / 14,279 / BTC (short) / -200,588 (yes, minus two hundred thousand)
3 / SlangNRox / 13,282 / BBRY / 13,137
4 / bluelobster / 12,047 / TTPH / 1,520
5 / MGLICKER / 10,996 / AMZN (short) / -8,608

Honorable mentions for outperformance go to Zubie (-61K) and OperationButter (-46K) who both shorted BTC for a portion of their portfolio, and tydye who went long BTC for his entire portfolio and would be sitting on 219K today.

I’ll try to update the 2015 and 2016 data over the next few days.

Excellent start.. there are some very interesting stats to be pulled from this data set. Many folks have weighted their picks toward PMs over the years, others have chosen what's Hot or not, some have stayed with a theme, etc.

I might go back and crunch a few numbers myself after a few eggnoggs..
Really curious who few have the best average performance..
