Anyone who has ever attended a major Half Cent or Large Cent sale knows that a great collection will bring significantly higher prices than if the same coins were scattered in dozens of no-name sales. The extent to which the same effect can be seen in other fields may often be less pronounced, but it's almost always there.

Is the pedigree effect equal to the CAC effect on market pricing (generally speaking)?

Generally? Generally, I don't like to feed trolls or thread hijackers. ;)

    Ouch!

If your collection is a pile of crap, having one good coin might get an auction house to take the whole lot. Then again, if your collection is a pile of crap, you aren't going to buy one premium coin.

If OPPORTUNITY comes your way in a coin that will enhance your overall collection, I am saying don't be frugal
or cheap. In the long run feeding your passion will definitely give you pleasure
and will most probably enhance the value of your collection.

I definitely subscribe to this train of thought

One coin does not make an inventory or collection. It all ads up based on MV.

Beyond that each piece has to hold its own on the bourse in finding a buyer who will step up, pay the money.

Numismatic Investment is not an automatic ATM like stocks. If they won't pay the money or broke your stuck - doesn't matter what it is.
