So far, possibly 20 (or 15) slots have sold. If break(s) occurs, this could make remaining intact boxes worth more.

Just Collect is curiously selling 5 spots on eBay (quite possibly) for Vintage Breaks?

IMO - this really wasn't the way to do this "break", and not really sure I'd even call it a break. It's really just selling packs from a full box.

I think the better way to do it was to do it by card number/slots in the set. Obviously 143 spots takes a little longer to fill, but by the pack leaves virtually no way to make out as there are so few 10s that would return the price of the packs at $2200 each or whatever it is. A raw Jordan isn't going to pay for the pack, so the only chance of making out on a "rip" actually requires grading. That doesn't feel like a very good "lottery ticket" to me if I have to do something else besides just get lucky.

If they've had done it by card/slot, cost would have been a little over $500. Obviously no idea what sort of centering is in there, but by slot the big RCs yield at least some possibility of paying out. Obviously the 57 slot would be a winner for sure in raw cards, and maybe even the Jordan sticker slot if they were nicely centered. The Barkley, Olajuwon, Ewings if they could yield even a couple PSA 9s would cover the $500, and a 10 on any of those singles would basically pay for the slot - break even isn't necessarily a bad outcome on something like this. Even Barkley in 8s at around $90-100 each gets pretty close to the slot price.

I think there are around 12-15 slots that have a potential to pay out assuming the cards were 9 quality, so you've got not quite 10% of the slots with some chance to break even and/or make out, and the rest took a $500 shot at 3-4 Jordan RCs.

I feel pretty confident that anyone who would have spent $2000+ on a pack would have also strongly considered buying 4 slots. I know I would have bought at least a couple slots if it had been done that way, but there's no way I was going to pay $2000 for one of the packs.

Yes it's more hassle, I get it, but I think it also makes a lot more sense as a real "break" as there's a chance for more winners.

That would have been pretty cool to stick with the 2k buy in but spread the cards out over packs similar to what you are suggesting. Randomize and then straight down left to right card for card. Each entry gets 13 numbers. I believe they were going to rip the packs anyway? PSA was saying any jordan pulled would grade for free and also the pack would never retain its value.

I saw that Probstein is also selling packs from one of these boxes, $2201 per pack.

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
