Looking for feedback from TTMA seekers

I've been thinking about starting a through the mail auto project of a certain set and was wondering if there are any TTMA guys here? It was fairly easy finding home addresses for most of the players whose autos I'm attempting to get and was hoping someone here with ttma experience can tell me what type of response should i expect if I mail cards to these home addresses? Do players & former players get angry when you do this or are they nice guys who sign & return? Any feedback?

TTM autos are 90% auto'd by a maid. In fact 95% of auto's not received in person are false. It baffles me why there are still autograph collectors. it makes no sense to still believe in it after all the proven falsifications. In person is the ONLY auto.

I've gotten about 25-30 TTMAs over the years mailing to stadiums and and of the 14 that i sent for authentication every single card was deemed authentic so I'm not worried about someone else signing them. What i'm basically asking is should I expect some nasty letter back for sending to their home address?

I hope you didn't buy that Jordan while EWIC.

The players wont get angry if you send TTM to their home address, almost anyone who played in the majors will get TTM requests. In terms of what percentage to expect to ever see again in depends on the era they played in and how big of a star they were for the most parts. If you have a list of who you need or even what era they would be from I could give you more details.

I send to players using work, home, or stadium address. I do about 100 a year and never had a nasty reply from a player. Figure, it they don't like it, they probably not going to sign and reply anyway. Sometimes I'll include a questioner asking a question. They either respond to it or not.

@jeff550 thanks,they're former/current Patriots players from the past 25-30 years. I'm going into this knowing Brady won't be signing any cards but holding out hope for most of the other Pats players i'm interested in.

@MDillon thanks,wasn't sure what to expect. Your questioner sounds like a good idea maybe i'll give it a shot.

Retired/off season Baseball - 104/123, 256 autos
Regular Season (active players) - 4/10, 12 autos
Spring Training - 8/27, 10 autos
Retired Football - 91/100, 248 autos
Retired Hockey - 2/3, 6 autos

@Copperjj Do you send multiple items to one player to have autographed? Most of the players I intend on mailing to will be just 1 or 2 cards but there's one player that has 4 cards and i'm trying to decide if should go for all 4 at once or do 2 then the other 2 a few months later.

I usually check the players history of signing. By that do they sign multiples, do they sign duplicates, what pen do they use. Some people will slam you for sending more than 2 cards, but if the player only has 4 cards and they seem to sign 4 cards for others, I'll send to them one time and I'm don't ever have to send to them again. I like cards signed in blue sharpie, therefore if I see a player signs regularly in ball point or black sharpie I will send my own blue sharpie. I also use 2 blank 3x5 index cards to protect the cards. Some of the time the players sign them too so it's a bonus. Hope that helps.

It definitely helps so thanks. I'll try my luck with the 4 cards seeing its just that one player and see how it goes.

Retired football depending on the era I would guestimate to be about 50/50. If you send multiples just explain in your letter why you want more than one (set, team collector, etc) and you should be good. As always depends on the player.

I'm actually going for autos from N.E. Patriots players from the past 30 years and aside from the Pats players who've signed listed on fanmail.bz i'm pretty much gonna try my luck with the others. The cards aren't expensive so it wouldn't be much of a loss if they don't sign or send them back. I'll post my results here as they come back.
