I have never believed in storing images online.

This is why I have 6 external hard drives with all the exact same information on them stored in different places.

I save them as you do, however, some sites did not have direct img. uploads, just like how we didn't until the upgrade, my favorite feature!

That cloud over our hosts is holding a lot of mine now as I just deleted all that used to be in my bucket.

I just downloaded all my photos as per your direction. I then deleted the account, but it is still there for 48 hours and then hopefully permanently gone!!! My God that site is loaded with annoying pop ups!!!!

I think read that p-bucket no longer allows posting to a 'third party site', such as CU.
If someone did, they have to have a paid account in order to access their images.
Sounds like blackmail or desperation on their part, 'May Many Phooeys Be Upon Them!'

I too used this method . Yes as goldbully mentioned that sight has more pop ups than you can hit with a stick. I'm downloading my images and then I'll also close my account.
Thank you for the tip my friend :)

I'm going to leave my account there alone...who knows maybe they will sense a wee bit of backlash and modify things. At the very least SO FAR I seem to still have pictures with live links up on old threads that were linked there.

I most certainly won't use them going forward though. The only use for them was third party hosting and certainly not as a backup. Somewhere along the line they had reduced image resolutions and people who thought they were a back up site have found out their hi-resolution photos have been ruined.

Not only that, I had to close 5-6 ads (including full page overlays and a redirected page) JUST TO READ THE FLIPPING NEW TERMS OF SERVICE. Seriously, ads on the TOS page (I don't know if I want a shaking head, vomit, or eye roll emoji here...).

I do appreciate what everyone who posts about having back up hard drives. That is great advice for backing up and storage (though I would argue ADDING at least one independent cloud back up like carbonite or something is also wise) BUT doesn't do much for photo sharing with something like an album or posting to sites that don't allow direct upload.

Shoot, direct upload with anything of a decent resolution is very new to a lot of places. That said, facebook, imgur, flikr, and likely even though I haven't figured it out google storage and iCloud can be used to show off a few photos or an album if you have something you want to share. Obviously not everyone needs to share photos of their family/pets/shooting a cannon (hubby's hobby...and actually he just does you tube videos) etc.

BUT, those all require more than just a hard drive back up--which is strong and excellent advice, just not a panacea for everyone's tasks.
