That is a nice article discussing the views of some top collectors.
It would also be great for Greg to also have an article interviewing some of the top doctors, who can be anonymized if they wish. For example, Laura just wrote the following in her Hot Topics. It would be great to hear more about the perspectives of the top docs.
I just was told by a dealer one of the copper docs was heard saying to another they justify selling the bad retoned coins because “they know they are stable”.
There are also top collectors who preach blast white only coins, even if dipped out. Maybe some interviews with them? The article is geared towards high end collectors going after 5,6,7 figure coins. The view could be a lot different with coins in the $10-$1000 range.
And as a rule, if you're buying 19th century DCAM type coins other than Morgan dollars, odds are good they've seen seen the dip solution in their lives. That would suggest none of these top end collectors Greg mentioned would be fans of most DCAM type coins. I know I'm not. I'd much prefer an originally toned strong CAM coin.
Although more than 350 of my articles have been published on CoinWeek.com, does anyone remember any of the more than 75 of my articles that were published on CoinLink before CoinWeek was founded in January 2011? Also, IIRC, I contributed more than 200 articles to Numismatic News newspaper and other Krause Publications, including World Coin News.
Gazes: A great read---enjoyed that very much
TwoSides2aCoin: Great read. Thanks.
Insider2: Thanks, good read. Hopefully you'll be sure to post Part 2 and Part 3 for us.
Zoins: I was surprised at this since I've seen your name in many articles. Any reason he wouldn't use your name and refer to your handle?
IIRC, Bruce did not wish for his name to be mentioned then, in 2009! In any event, I usually do not mention the name of a collector without his or her explicit permission. Also, most readers in 2009 would have been more familiar with the TradeDollarNut handle than with Bruce's real name.
Also, I included TDN's real name, after asking him for permission, in the title of an article in 2011. I thank TDN for cooperating, upon request, in regard to that piece in 2011 and in regard to several other articles over the past seven years.

Have you considered telling him who you are?

No idea. I'm also a bit more comfortable with dipping than he puts forth there.
I tried to send a PM to @TradeDollarNut, but the system doesn't recognize the name. Wanted to tell him that the Dexter 1804 won't dip out DCAM.

hey Colonel, are you sure the system fails to recognize TDN or might it be you???
In base three, yes.
Great read. Thanks.
See, things can add up when you view them from a different perspective

Colonel, my only point was that you haven't been around much.
A great read---enjoyed that very much
Cue Iwog. This article cannot go unchallenged.
Great picture of an expert in that article!

Heh heh.
I remain absent. This article was first published on CoinLink.com on Nov. 11, 2009.

I very much appreciate such positive feedback.
Here is Part 2 (from 2009) - Links to all three should appear at the respective bottom of each.

Consider the TradeDollarNut web site!
Now, thousands of collectors know his real name.

Thanks for the response and link to TDN's website. You had me go through it again. Some gorgeous coins there including this one:
Fwiw, that's the Carter specimen and is now PR65 at Pcgs after many years as a 64 in my collection. It's now in the Simpson collection
That coin above is totally amazing!
What in the world? The article is from 8 years ago and now published again?
I'm glad someone clarified the deceptive thread title. . .and no prejudice from here with regard to the value of the original article.
