coinfacts question
When you open up the Seated Half section there is a colorful 1846 on top.
However when I open that year I do not see any images that look like that.
What it does kind of look like is one in a NGC holder that sold in jan of 2012 graded MS66?

Do you mean this coin:
PCGS 12598787
If so, it's a proof and listed under "1846 50C Medium Date (Proof)":
PCGS CoinFacts: http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/6390
so much for my old eyes.
I though it was a high grade MS coin
I didn't see it as a proof.
My bad
Looks like the very definition of a what a proof striking should be....knife edge on Miss Liberty's right leg and knee. Overall, much better than the quality often seen on proof seated halves from 1875-1890. They also made a 100-400X more of those later dates.
You mentioned the MS66 1846 from NGC back in 2012 (Tall Date?). I recall that coin because it very much reminded me of the NGC MS65 1846 TD that I bought at auction and slabbed back in 1988. Pretty sure they are one and the same coin. I agree that the toning on that MS 66 TD is somewhat like this 1846 MD proof. That MS66 TD was the highest graded until the NGC MS67 TD Colonel Green/Newman coin showed up. While that coin is not CAC'd, not PCGS, it sure is the best one out there. The luster is quite frosty and fresh looking...though probably dipped 40-90 yrs ago. Very eye appealing imo...with just a few too many ticks/grazes for an all there MS67.

Colonel Green apparently recognized the Tall Date early on. Here's another one that went NGC MS65. Note the obvious friction/rub across Miss Lib's right leg/knee area.

By the way that 1847 TD in the NGC MS 66 that sold in Jan 2012 was my coin!
Hard to get rid of that coin but business is business.
