They have done that for at least a few months. They sit there for a day or two and do not count toward your "official" grading time. Since you said some of your orders are express, and end of quarter is coming, you might get some quick service on this batch!
I gather that it is a way to cut down on the neurotic phone calls to C.S., asking "why is my order not logged in yet ?" after viewing the USPS tracking summary.
