Watch out for a national sales tax to replace state sales tax, for the purpose of protecting B&M retailers from Amazon and other online competitors. Will they exclude bullion? Coins? What else? And that's just sales tax. Think of all of the other ways the government could screw things up for us.

One law fits all is a great idea IF they get it right. Then again, what is "right"? You'll never get everybody to agree on everything.

50 states all separately working on the same problems, with 50 different solutions, and all learning from each others' successes and failures, is the American way. It's also Nature's way, at least if you believe in evolution.

States will never agree to give up the revenue from sales taxes. It's why everyone who thinks a VAT would actually lower taxes for the poor are delusional.

Living in California is very hard as it is extremely hard to figure out what to do each day.

Do I go Kayak fishing in the ocean, surfing, sailing, hiking. backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, off roading, dune buggying in the dunes, gold prospection and mining, girl watching, insanely great nature photograpahy, herbal gardening, the list is way to large to go on .....

Which way do I go ...... the beach, inland valleys, awesome mountains or some of the best deserts on earth.

We have all that and more in North Carolina - but we aren't saddled with LA.

As a Professional Nature Photographer I have been to North Carolina on one trip to shoot Awesome waterfalls, Cool forests, wildflowers, and the awesome Smokies. I have to say tho that was by far the worst business decision I every made as those photos from that trip are the least salable images of any trip that I have every been on.

I have been on so many trips to different parts of California and there is still so much more to see.

Last years family vacation as well as this years family vacation are destinations in California and we live in California.

Amazingly, this thread has proven the California stereotype to be entirely accurate.

The Minnesota bill was written by a bullion telemarketer to keep competition away. He used his influence to rig the system against his competitors both current and future.

This kind of stuff happens all the time and it happens when people are not paying attention and are too lazy to do anything. They just complain. Complaining here doesn't help.

To those poor folks in California, gripe all you want. I don't care. You have beautiful weather. that's about it. There are too many people and because they want the infrastructure needed to accommodate so many people, they have to pay up for it. I have no sympathy.

For EOC, and to get back to real coins ... I think we can all agree that CA, like it's quarter, is just a little off center. >:);)

Read somewhere that they fly the rebel flag and legislator's lapel pins are Swastikas . Not sure how true that is. You know how rumors are.

Actually it's just the opposite in Minnesota. If the flag was more accurate in representing the state, it would look more like this: Hotflick.net - Image Upload
