Don't know where you're looking but prices are robust as ever for tougher years/issues. A 1977 wax tray just sold for $550 and even 1980 baseball wax boxes are back up to $900.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I sold some Superman and high dollar '89 Topps Hockey to throw some bids down on that upcoming '48 Bowman Baseball box. I think I have a good chance of picking it up since the unopened market is spiraling down.
Just sold a run of 70's PSA packs for asking price with no haggle in less than 3 hours on eBay plus a 75 mini and 76 rack for large $$. IMO unopened pre 1981 is going pretty well.
Those who collect unopened are ignoring your prognostications of doom and gloom. They're paying record prices for rare items and healthy prices in general for vintage unopened items.
I have some unopened. If I open it or sell it, I won't have it anymore. My brain simply can't get past that and so it sits. The purpose it is serving unopened I have not figured out yet. The boxes just sit there, like a hunting trophy.

Question. In regard to the1948 Bowman box. Does anyone here know the reference point/criteria used to verify the packs as previously unopened? In other words have the authenticators seen other sealed 48 packs or have others on hand to compare? Or have they authenticated other 48 packs in the past and know what to look for. I've read here in the past that the roller marks must match up. Are these present on these 48 packs?

As is the conjecture.
I agree. Unopened is dead. Don't buy anymore. Especially 1980's, it's all junk.
Thank you and please drive through

The Memory Lane unopened results seemed strong across the board. Same with REA's unopened.
I don't collect unopened, but looking at some of the Memory Lane prices I'd say the rare stuff is doing well.

Given the username and feedback, not sure if there's much to learn from these sales.

not a thing, Crisser. Unopened is completely dead and found undesirable.

BlueJay- The boxes came from an incredible source
Thanks for your response.
Go to www.memorylaninc.com
Look at lots 634 and up.
Dave
re: lots 634 and up.....wow, the hobby has grown way soft as the 78 Cello and 79 Cello boxes didn't even fetch a bid.
Sell your vintage wax for what you can and run for your lives!
Kidding of course - pretty strong lots and prices in that Memory Lane auction.
