Question on mailing to Japan?

Has anyone had any problems or experience in mailing from the U.S. to Japan? I don't normally mail internationally but I have received a request and the potential buyer looks legit. Single coin involved ($600) and I have private insurance. Best method?
Thanks

Tom

    International is as safe as the chain of custody involved in the handling of your item to the buyer. Although, once it leaves the sender's hands there's always that caveat. (my experience and opinion)

    I have shipped quite a few packages to Japan and all were problem free.

    I have shipped to Japan. I also lived in Japan for 6 years and am very confident in their postal services!

    I shipped an expensive eBay item to Japan, Registered, and it was a smooth transaction.

    Japan is one of the safest country to ship to as they consider thief is the lowest class in the society worst than homeless bum, mugger, scammer etc.

    Agree! (edited, because I only lived there for 4 years...)

    I don't mail things TO Japan, but I sure get a bunch of packages FROM Japan. Well, I have mailed to Japan too, but mostly it's all coming this way.

    I have done a few transactions (non coin) over $200 on eBay to Japan with no issues... Funny thing is out of 100+ international sales I have only had an issue shipping to the UK... 2 lost packages

    Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,

    On the reserse I once left a large sum of cash in a room safe in a Tokyo hotel. They mailed it back to me inside a book with the pages cut out in the shape of American bills. I still shake my head

    Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

    @Justacommeman
    You were very lucky,
    The hotel in Bermuda mailed my glasses back in a regular #10 envelope/////// ruined.

    I also have shipped to Japan without difficulty.
    My problem shipments have been to France and Italy. (More than once, shame on me).
