I took out the zeros and wound up with a foreign coin. Oh well.

I occasionally look for my birthday on the 8-digit serial numbers on dollar bills.

For those that aren't getting coins try replacing your 19xx with 00xx and you find something also so I tried 05160078 and got a MS63 1908 double eagle (which I happen to need for a type set)........ I created a monster .... I got to go to work now to pay for this stuff

Not trying to be a thread killer, but divulging personal information (birthdays) could be detrimental to identity theft.

I've thought about that, but in this day and age I can find a lot more about a person than their birthday with just their name, and I have never used my last name here... I'm more concerned with my banks servers getting hacked than I am with a forum of people who know me as a monopoly character knowing my birthday...

There are hundreds of thousands [probably millions] of state/federal collected documents {paper documents} that are being "thrown" out each and every day by companies cleaning out buildings for renovation or reconstruction that contain sensitive info.

I know of several victims of identity theft, I guess that I am overly cautious. Game on.

Everybody has to feel a certain level of security...if I had ever used my name here I might have gone the 19xx route... I strongly agree not to give out personal information online... Facebook is by far the most revealing as It gives access to your name, birthday , Possibly mothers, brothers and sisters names and birthday, pictures from in their house and car and so on.

Well, thought this would be a great first post. New member, been lurking a few weeks. Read this first thing before heading out and sanding my deck, ugh. Just thought that this was such a neat angle and actually thought about it a bit through the day. The ultimate (probably impossible) challenge. Checked everyone's Bdays and such. Came back in this evening and thought, gonna start and check ebay. Yep, you guessed it, 13 hits, FIRST coin that pops up....my coin! 1913 10c Barber in ms64. Not real sure how to feel about this yet. Really!? Kinda bummed.

Anyhow, great site. Thanks to everyone who share such great info. Gonna be at the Santa Clara show next weekend (still love handling and seeing all the coins in person), if you'll be selling or attending I'd love to stop by and meet you!

Not good. I have been looking to re-acquire this Barber for a longtime. Had to sell her as part of a divorce and have been trying to get her back ever since.

That one very nice au58! Absolutely love the toning to boot! Hope you can work out a deal to get her back (the coin, not the women.. lol)

I want to buy cert #31415926 which was graded a year ago or so. Wonder if the owner will ever realize that it's something special.

I have been searching for that (or 31415927) as a serial number on a bill. The cert number slab would be fun too.

Welcome, Seeing my coin get sold would have me bummed also.... I have searched eBay for hours and only found a couple that even could be birthday dates, try and see if the seller will forward a message to the new owner that you'll buy it for more than they paid... Or replaced with similar or better coin?

The PR65 Franklin half I would need to find appears to be in the Rattler numbers. They did not do Cam/Dcam on rattlers did they? I think this one would be like finding a non-metallic needle in a hay field. Could very well have been cracked too...
