Don't need to a big Market here for it as is. Even on ebay you can get more than spot for it.
Most raw gold is 22k
That kind of gold was $16/ounce or less in San Francisco in 1850.
Melt it with a torch, stir it, pour it into a mold and shoot it with an XRF to get the fineness. They showed how to do that on one of the 1st season episodes of Bearing Sea Gold on Discovery.
It may not be as sexy as selling "raw" gold.
