I work with cellphones and older folks like me... when my customers (or myself) are not sure how to achieve a certain objective we simply ask a 12 or 13 year old to show us; no instructions are necessary, they just know how to figure it out.

The price of technology today, or lack of cost, simply amazes me

Got my microscope the other day and took a few random shots. Very happy with it. I must admit to having help getting it up a running though. Also couldn't find where the program stored the images since they didn't go to my usual pictures folder.

If you guys want, you can buy calibration slides, and measure how far off certain things are etc.

If only I had a computer I would buy one of these. I watched it anyway, lol!

It would be nice if you guys playing with these would show pix taken at the lowest, middle and highest magnifications and denote them as such. It would be helpful. What is the largest image file size it will snap and what is the widest field of view?

I'm only taxing you with these questions because 15 bucks is too cheap! :-)

At 1X power, one would think it wouldn't quite view a whole quarter.

You're right. The only downside to this very inexpensive toy is just that! You'll be lucky to even get 2 Digits of a date on a coin. That's the widest shot. Still very good and enjoyable to use and take pics. with. I'm very happy with it. For the cost, it does take pretty good photos. :)

For $15 delivered I think it is great.
PS I know the lighting is poor, but I'm at work.

I bought one with a clip for $3.28 shipped (different Chinese seller). It got here in 12 days.

    Not bad for showing doubling.

With Chinese sellers make sure it says "new, in package".

I bought the $15.55 scope offered on EBAY. It shipped without the driver CD. It took quite awhile to get my money back.
I would avoid these cheap Chinese scopes! There are much better scopes out there.

My laptop didn't need the CD, it downloaded all by itself. ;)

Supposedly the scope is plug and play, and on most Windows systems it will recognize it as a camera. I have an older laptop running Win 10 and it took a little messing around with drivers before I could get it running. Once installed, it worked beautifully, the image quality is better than the old QX3 it replaced and the focal distance and magnification are completely in the hands of the user. The second picture below was actually taken through a PCGS slab, something the QX3 could never accomplish.

I am new to this forum. I also have Windows 10 and I cannot get the software to run. It says it is missing a driver. What did you do to get it working?

    Thanks

Picked up a few junk silver coins and tried the iPhone camera. The digital microscope is a fabulous tool ( toy) , too. Have hade one for a couple years.

I can get the 'hotviewer.exe' file to install and work, but it seems to be an 'abbreviated' version of the microscope program that should be installed using 'cooling tech.exe' or 'cooling.exe'. My disk does not have the program called 'cooling.exe' and the 'cooling tech.exe' program won't load 'cause my Norton software says it contains a 'Heuristic Virus' whatever that is.

The line states: "File: c:\program files (x86)\coolingtech\cooling.exe (is) Blocked"

Has anyone installed the coolingtech/cooling software or know were to download it?
