Mint Made Error?? Kennedy Half

Hi All error specialists....is this half mint made error struck through grease??? Thoughts???

I believe it is a 1969 ...

    You should probably weigh it to be sure, if normal then struck through grease is the likely cause. If the coin is a little light then the planchet could have been artificially worn down after the strike. I don't think it is a thin planchet because the weak areas are not opposite each other.

    I would guess that it's likely not a struck through grease error. Struck through grease error coins typically have a fully formed design rim.

    There are aspects of this coin that look like a genuine struck on thin planchet error. The transition area between the weak and strong portions of the design rim look correct. In addition, some of the lettering and design has the appearance of metal flow, but I doubt this is the case. I agree with you that it is not struck on a thin planchet or a tapered planchet for the same reason that you note.

    Based on the photos, it is artificially worn or smoothed.
