Identification Help? Japanese Chogin?
I bought this thing a little over a year ago as part of a larger purchase but I never bothered looking into it. I've spent a little time over the past couple days trying to figure it out – but I'm about ready to give up. At first I assumed it was some kind of Chogin, but I can't find anything remotely close.
The flip it was in had a lot # of 705 for what its worth. Given the collection this came I guessed it was a Stacks or Baldwin lot – but with no date I couldn't nail it down. It weighs 37.25 grams.
Anyone have any idea?

Fascinating and gorgeous piece.
To me it looked ~ 19th century but possibly Chinese rather than Japanese. So I googled "china +19th century+ silver bar"

Unfortunately there isn't much information. But perhaps you can use this to further your research.

Flipping through my JNDA and Hartill showed nothing similar. There are lots of local productions, but this does not appear to be anything 'standard. Cool looking, but I'm guessing Chinese too (especially after I looked at Weiss' link!).

Man that thing got under my skin! Weird thing to buy at auction, but the original collector was all over the place.
