Common date 67 Saints, sluggish!

It appears as though common date MS67 Saints are collecting dust in some dealers inventories. Obviously Saints in this grade don't come along every day, but dealers are setting unrealistic prices. That large auction house has a 1923-D (buy now) priced at $11,500, no sticker here, good luck! Another dealer has a 1923-D priced at $12,000, this exact coin has been available online for over two years. I am not implying that there is not a market for these coins, but only a fool would pay these prices. Conversely, if someone offered these to a dealer they would realistically be offered $7,500. The population increase certainly hasn't helped here.

If that dust isn't removed with acetone, and I mean STAT, those "MS67s" will likely turn into MS66s.

Would it be more accurate to say "overpriced" than "sluggish"?

Who sets the prices? Sluggish is a great descriptor until that can be established.

Common date equals diminished interest in a declining market.

Never owned one higher than MS64 - can't imagine spending that on one.

Bet they are sluggish like paying $12 for a burger when the Jack n Box 4 for 4 deal will do.

$12000 for 67 Saint / how many PCGS 69 AGE that buy? Would rather have those.

I am sure there will be some uninformed investor who buys these :)

Much rarer and more collectible coins can be bought at those prices.

Governments can print currency. Only the people can print faith in it — and they’re running low on ink.
