Thoughts on new Inventory, and Registry

This is strictly from a desktop view of the website.

So far, I like the changes.

Pros of the new inventory:

  1. Can rearrange the columns in your inventory.
  2. Can drag and drop images to upload.
  3. I like the 'details' part next to upload under the actions column. Especially how it pulls up your coin, plus coin facts info under it.
  4. Editing your coins is very nice. All the info in one pop up, with one tab.

Cons of the new inventory:

  1. Seem to have a lot of image duplicates in my inventory. This mostly is showing up on coins I know I resubmitted Must just be from the database switch over.

Pros of new registry:

  1. Cleaner
  2. More search features. (e.g. when adding new set, when searching for sets, etc). The best part is it uses ajax or whatever so when you search it is instant.

Cons of new registry:

  1. Did thumbnails of True Views change to a smaller size?
  2. Not sure if the PCGS # is supposed to not link to anywhere anymore?
  3. Browsing images on an iPad in portrait mode the arrows go over the coin in the image, and sometimes fade, sometimes do not.

Comments:

I notice there is a 'population lower' when you view a coin. Maybe add an additional option in settings to add this to columns in registries?

New fonts, readability are very good. Overall I think the upgrade is great. Good work!!

Thanks for your feedback. We are working hard to make improvements to the site. Where are you seeing that Trueviews are smaller than they were before?

@PCGSDev Are they smaller thumbnails in any registry when displaying the set?

    Like here: https://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/u-s-coins/famous-u-s-coins/100-greatest-u-s-coins/publishedset/101026

I feel that the trueviews should have a little more 'oomf' since images are really a nice way to highlight the collection. They are 64x32 only?

  • Here is a comparison of the new site on the left and the old site on the right with the sizes labeled. The image might just feel smaller because it is in a larger space.

Any way to expand the image if you hover over it with a mouse for desktop users?
I know if you click on it or select it with a mouse or with your finger on a mobile device it opens up a larger image.
But then you have to select the X to close it back to the smaller size.

    Not at this time, unfortunately.

    Well heck.

Has there been any talk about changing the size of this, or at least a setting? I'm running 2560x1600, and I'm sure a lot of users are beyond the whole 640x480, 1024x768 range. Also, I like what 10000 lakes said, hover over would be cool.

Right now we are focused on fixing issues with the new site. We may revisit improvements such as this at a later date.

I have to disagree. I think being a little more constructive is more helpful than these kind of posts

I don't use the registry much, but I took a look around and like it better now than before.

Grade Fair Two total lack of eye appeal, used to like to go there now only when I have to.

I assume our hosts will run their website how they see fit, but for the record, I like it better than before. This is especially true when I consider how much it costs me to use it.

    :)
