is the YN < 11 or >=12? I ask because the younger ones I expect to mishandle, thus I'd send some details coins.

A YN is any age up to 16 years old. Details coins are acceptable.

    Does that answer your question?

    Looks good. Thanks.

  • I wanted to comment on what Bob stated in his first post. "The level of generosity on these forums is unsurpassed and never ceases to amaze me." Almost ten years ago, Bob was selling a group lesser condition set of classic commemoratives on the BST. I had a son who was almost three and wanted to get him a starter set of coins with the hope of sparking his numismatic interest and I thought what better than an inexpensive set of commemorative coins. Since Bob did not state a price in his listing, I inquired. I can't remember the exact price but I remembered it was a fair price. After informing Bob that it was a little more than I wanted to spend, Bob offered to send my son a book about the classic commemoratives at no cost. I was amazed that someone I did not know was willing to send his personal book to me at no cost in the hopes of stimulating interest of a young man. I never forgot Bob's generosity. It is nice to see that after 10 years, Bob hasn't changed. My interest in coins started when I received some coins from my father. It's nice to know that there are guys like Bob and the other three people he mentioned that are generous and care about seeding today's youth in sharing their love of coins. There are many outstanding people on these forums.

Ricko, ElKevvo, Pushkin, and MorganMan94 are entered by default. When I receive their donated coins, I will pass them on to the YNs.

    Cheers

Great contest, thanks for the automatic entrance!
I wish it was easier to locate YNs or children potentially interested as I would love to help them out or potentially start their collection for them. I have so many shield nickels, wheat cents, and buffalos that if I could give them all away and get 5% interested in collecting I would have helped 100+ YNs. On this great forum I doubt it is a desire to help YNs just to locate them.

Probably one of the best ways to get kids started and interested in numismatics. What a great idea have your kid go to the school and hand out a bunch of coins in presentable holders maybe a history of the coin with it. Well done.

That does count as you gave the coins to your son with the intent that they would be given to his friends.

I already shoveled this morning before work. Gotta love New England winters.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have finally given up shoveling.... got a crew that comes around and does it real fast... pay at end of month depending on how many storms. They do a great job. Cheers, RickO

Seems like many hands, a crew, would make light work of snow removal.
My grandfather always told me, as a tot trying to lug 3 bales of hay at once or too much water for the cows in the winter......

It actually hasn't been that bad here in this part of NE but the weather in February can be formidable.
