Updates from NYINC?

I see several auctions have concluded, and only one post (by Zohar). I think I won one lot from CNG but will for confirmation before posting (so as not to look silly if wrong).

I am so excited about tomorrow. Got my EB badge ready. Need to pack. Got a short to-do, but critical, list for tomorrow.

I plan to make a BOurse appearance on Friday... Any reports on the CNG auction that concluded today? How did the British crowns fair?

Looks like some of the Patrick Tan's coin sold cheap. I heard.

I have bids in for the New York Sale tonight. And I will be at the show tomorrow! Jury selection for the case that I am monitoring has been put over.

I won something at Heritage, but totally overpaid for it so I'm not sure I'll post it. Kidding, but I'll wait until I get it in hand. A hint, it's Japanese.

Can't wait to hear all the stories and see the pictures!

Can you tell what jap coin? I also got a jap coin and I think I way over paid it. Got carry away by HA pushing up the price in live.

I'll send a PM. I'll also tell you which one I was the overpriced underbidder for o:)

And, that is why I disable the 'bid' button if I'm watching the Heritage live (which I was). Lessens the likelihood of getting myself into trouble.

No auction action for me, but I'll be at the professional preview today.

The case I was monitoring was put over for a bit. Didn't see ya there Nap. Chatted with Zohar.
Discovered that the bids I entered for The New York Sale did not get registered. :o
Not a disastrous matter, though. In short, I purchased items that attracted me, but nothing for any of my themes. Much.
I have to return tomorrow, Friday. I do want to fill in holes in my collections.

Great day saw Harasha the fabulous 2K (Roman) and much time with EVP. Dropped of coins for imaging with Todd. Great day to be continued write up when done.

Had an awesome time meeting all the forum members and hanging out with Zohar and EVP. Seeing a small part of Zohar's collection was an experience of its own! Had a few coins imaged by Todd that I will post once I'm back in Canada. Spent a bit chatting with folks at World Numismatics. Had wine and cheese on the bourse with Andy and visited Josh (CIVITAS) and James (Atlas). Also sold a few coins and, combined with a nice discount from John Agre, was able to acquire this beauty:

I had a great day at NYINC with lots of excellent purchases. I am now sitting home at my computer a hell of a lot poorer.

Saw @TwoKopeiki's new 8R, and it is quite the lovely. Drool city if you love originality and attractive eye appeal.

    Really nice 8R!

Thanks, @Boosibri ! It's a nice upgrade to the AU50 one I've had in the set for years.

I was there on Friday... Not in the best mood. Unfortunately, I had a tough time finding coins although I managed to find some medals. As I understand it, the venue will change from the Waldorf Astoria next year. I noticed afew things this visit-Some dealers that I visit were not there. Also, I noticed for the first time that slabs had a greater presence than raw coins. And I would certainly expect this at a large show with US coins in the strong majority-but not at a show like this. It seems times have changed...

I enjoyed looking and this show is worth attending just to see the frequency of what appears on the market

Came in for a spell Friday morning .. dropped off some baggage at NGC .. then walked the floor too quick for my taste as I had little time to spare.
Tables were mostly very busy..ran into Andy but for mere seconds...was ambushed by Zohar who showed me his slabbed 2T to die (or kill) for, and a raw LARGE HEAVY newp unsure if he posted it so.....and other matters he is indeed a true numismatist in every sense of the word.
Also with us at that time was TwoKopeiki - first time we met - I saw the new 8R photo love it - has my kind of EA - here is another true numismatist, a gentleman.
I wish I had more time to spare.... next time perhaps guys. We took a look at some Stack's lots, and by then unfortunately my office had tracked me down :/ ......

  • EVillageProwlerEVillageProwler Posts: 5,856 ✭✭✭✭✭

@marcmoish - @Zohar hasn't mentioned that 'raw LARGE HEAVY' newp yet, so we must refer to it obliquely. Let's just call it 'Voldemort' until he does reveal himself, ok?

Saw something large and heavy, but I do not think it would interest Zohar. It interested me, but not at a price about 75% of my annual salary. Before taxes, withholdings and whatnot.

At the Adofo Cayon table. A 50 reales piece. If I understood him correctly, Sr. Cayon told me that the wealthy Spanish nobility liked to create these monstrosities as gifts.

That was a beautiful piece, indeed!
