Spokane Wa. Inland Empire Coin Club
Meltdown

I picked up this medal recently from the Spokane valley coin club commemorating their 15 year anniversary? 1953-1969
It's quite stunning in person, prooflike fields and really great detail. It's as big as a silver dollar but thick with wide edges.
It was in an old PVC style plastic flip and haze some hazing and a bit of gunk on the obverse. Can I acetone this coin without harming it? I think it's copper but it may be bronze?
Sadly when I googled the club, they've since shut down due to "declining membership". I understand they still host a couple coin shows per year? Maybe not anymore?
Anyone from that area on these boards care to chime in?

I would suggest a warm water bath with dawn dishwashing soap 1st. My experience with copper that has had PVC on it for a long time is acetone many times will give it that unnatural purple hue.
The medal looks like it is showing the Spokane Falls under the historical Monroe St. bridge and Saint Johns Cathedral. The mountain could be representing Mt. Spokane where they have a great ski resort just northeast of the city. Great looking medal and thanks for taking the time to show it.
You certainly can't miss that Cathedral when driving into town!
One of the former club members has taken the show reigns and is still doing two shows a year in Spokane.
Huh. I think of Southern California when I think "Inland Empire". Nice medal. Nice design and execution
