I can't find this one in my Davignon book. Has anyone seen this type before?

I believe David Strong is guy to ask about these. Not sure if he is on this forum or not.

Nope. Take it to FUN and we'll show Keith D. Or mail it to me and I will.

None that I'm aware of, but I like the idea; I think that would make them much more collectible.

Would cause too much confusion to novice or uneducated collectors and it defeats the purpose of slabbing certified genuine coins.

One way to reduce confusion is the ICG approach which will actually spell out "Counterfeit" on the insert for market acceptable counterfeits like Machins' Mills half pennies while other TPGs will straight grade it and omit any mention of counterfeit. Fantasy replica coins such as the Scovill Fugios and Bolen bar cents are also market acceptable so at least confusion is lower for some pieces.

By "slabbing certified genuine coins" do you mean problem coins that cannot get a straight grade or real coins in general? From what I've seen, genuine coins look much nicer than counterfeits so I don't think they will defeat the purpose of slabbing real coins.

Ccccbhcc.com is the website for contemporary counterfeit bust half dollars. Check there and if your piece is not listed in the new discoveries then send photos in to them for attribution and listing as a new DM.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

    Good to know.

The website has 1 less c in the front: ccCBHcc.
