I'm thinking that medieval noble belonged to one, one who was wealthy, had no need to spend it and whose subsequent generations were similarly endowed.

It blows my mind that this coin looks so pristine after 600+ years.
Any coins that were held in careful protection, government museums, etc. for the duration might qualify. Any mishandling automatically knocks coins down.

Just think of the odds this coin overcame to have not been mishandled in 650 years? Staggering. That's like 25-30 generations. Beautiful coin.

10 mill for a 179? Dollar and 22,325 for something that has survived in that state and has that history. Sometimes I wonder.

Certainly not cutting on the 1794 dollar as it is so historically important. Who wouldn't want to own that coin? But this is an awesome example of how much further your $$$ goes with the Darkside. The 1794 dollar final auction price was ~450X higher than this Noble.

That's the oldest I've seen with a numerical MS67 grade.
Member "JamminJ" used to post lots of gem supergrade European minors from the 16th and 17th centuries, but that's the first medieval I've seen.
