I don't as a collector but feel many dealers do so in bulk for the extra points. Can't blame them as they are dealing coins to make money and the crossover and dipping game drives this activity. Does not mean I like it but the situation is what it is and it is not going to change. This is why most rare coin pop reports are overstated.
Spend some time looking at rare pieces that go through heritage. Most of the rare ones show more than once and many dipped at some point between the first time they show up and the second or third time.

I have never done so with US coins.
