So, in the past couple of weeks, I "won" two ATB P coins in OGP on eBay put up by APMEX. Got great prices on each coin, but both had previously undisclosed quality issues. This makes me think that they are putting mostly their problem coins up on the Bay and keeping the rest for their regular stock. I like APMEX in general and have often ordered from them, but this was my first experience bidding on their offerings. Anyone else run into quality problems like this with them?

Or they were sending off the cherry picked ones to grade.
As I see dealers discussing the variance even now in the 70 grades, I worry about those being kept aside that are of better overall eye appeal and quality.
I had a similar thing happen with MCM.

APMEX has a long history of shady practices with the ATB series.
I am sure they do underhanded stuff with other products as well.
They are the last place I buy from.
And that used to be coast to coast's claim to fame with sending out of their culls.
It doesn't really matter until you decide to go to sell them and that someone else doesn't want them or you get a return or chargeback. I recently saw a dealer cherry picking on the BST for buying of Gold 70s.

Well, that's all disappointing--but very useful—information. Thanks everyone. I did buy a 5-oz Britannia from APMEX recently that I'm very happy with, but that was from their website.
