Blue Flip Auto to Red Flip Auto Cross

So when I went to the Long Beach Expo and did a couple submissions two weekends ago, I was told that you can not submit Blur Flip autos at the standard card grading price anymore. I was stunned. They told me I had to pay full rack rate ($25/ea) and submit them as Red Flip auto submissions. This absolutely floored me. Anyone have any idea why this is? If they've already authenticated the autograph (hence the blue flip), why would you need to pay the full Red Flip price to have it crossed over? Makes no sense to me. If they wanted to charge a cracking fee per card, that'd be one thing. Charging full rate for a service that's already been half paid for once is crazy town.

At this point, I just crack em and send the stuff with my red flip raw subs.

I just got into this with my Topps Rookie Cup auto run. I was just going to leave them in blue flips until they started putting "Trading Card" instead of the set the card was from on the flip. I called and was told the same thing initially - $25 per card. I had just received a blue flip sub back and certainly wasn't going to pay the $15 initially to sub for a blue flip and then pay another $25 per card to cross over. Since I was sending in a large bulk lot (53 cards) they went to a manager and gave me a discounted rate to crossover of $10 per card which is fair since that puts me to where I would have been had I submitted under the red flip dual submission in the first place. If you can get a group sub up I would imagine they would probably do something similar instead of the $25 per card they're quoting to folks.
The same should be true of RAW cards that have PSA stickers on the back (have a couple of those too). And it's completely stupid that you can't submit those and the Blue Flips at the same time for Red Flip slabbing. It's the SAME service...grading the card.

I have about 20 blue flips that I'll guess I'll just submit with next years group red sub.
If that is correct, I am going to guess that a lot of cards of semi stars like Andre Dawson or Fred McGriff are not going to be graded after that fee mark up. How much can one really expect to make off their card. As of now, cards with semi stars typically sell anywhere from around $20 - $30 and a lot of those don’t even get sold and stay up for sale on eBay for months and months. Now imagine if the sellers have to raise the prices on those cards that aren’t even regularly selling in order to try and make a small profit. No Bueno.
