Thx for the support Darin..... I do appreciate it.... To many people want to criticize on the board sometimes. I have had a lot of info sent to me about this guy through the boards and this should obviously be a warning to others so this whole thread is helpful. It is only wrong for a member to bring something up here if he has not given the other party time to resolve it
Bob, are you taking up for Greg Washington? Good grief man.... I see so clearly why so many have said others have left these boards. Why I am even dignifying this with a response is beyond me but I am being critical according to you!?!? I am letting everyone know about this crook and getting advice etc and telling my story but I am being too critical. You have issues bob! Feel bad for you
The person in question is using the CU boards to make these "deals" that he has no intention of completing. The days of taking the high road and allowing people to continue to operate with impunity is over. I had an issue with this person and didnt bring it up on the board until someone else mentioned it. Perhaps had I brought it up, it would have saved other people from having the same problem. For that, I am in the wrong. On the posts that are about deals gone wrong that I didnt have anything to do with, I just ignore it, but keep it in memory in case I am contacted by the same person. I see nothing wrong with any of the posts on this thread or the other regarding the situation. If solid evidence comes up that would 100% convict someone that does this or helps someone get their money back, I would have nor problem showing the emails from my "deal" with this person if it led to a result that would be good for everyone.

Please stop bashing the message board, it's getting old.

So in summary G. Washington may not be an honest man. Got it. We should have a CU board feedback system. Maybe a thread just labeled feedback where you can post a + or - about a deal with others. Of course if you leave a - they can dispute but as stated here the 4-5 of you that dealt with him easily would let anyone else considering a deal with him know the issues and make a decision on their own.

When you try and circumvent the fees and the deal goes south do you have any recourse?
On one hand I could see being able to show the emails and so on but on the other hand you are supposedly trying to send money to a friend and I could see PayPal removing themselves from the situation and leaving you to fend for yourself.

I took a gamble on a deal and sent about $500 Paypal F/F and never received anything. I used my Amex card to pay for it (I paid the fees) and when I realized I was getting screwed I called Paypal. They said they couldn't help me, but they recommended that I call Amex. I did and gave them all the information I had on the guy and they did a chargeback with Paypal and it was successful.

So hopefully he paid with a credit card.
If not it sounds like an ordeal to get your money back.
The interesting thing, though, was that he stated that he was a former USPS employee and there would be no problems at all as he knew the people working there.
I just read this guys' post again from back on Page 1.
The comment I've quoted here makes me think that there is a crafty little system in place designed to screw people and this thief isn't working alone.
Muffins I have to admit that your spot on....I got careless! You can get spoiled with the good dudes on the board and after many easy transactions combined with smooth eBay transactions over the last 5-10 years you start taking it for granted that the next transaction with be just as smooth and that's totally on me! Lesson learned and hopefully this saves someone else from this mistake!! I think the charge back will make me whole but a great lesson for us all!!!

I think it's a good lesson for all of us Board members to learn. I know in the past when doing a BST/transaction with another board member I look to see how long they have been a member and to see if they have had successful transactions with other members. In the future I will be a little more diligent in researching the seller.

Goodness! I got my money through a charge back since he went silent. It looks like one person or possibly more did not get their refund. I saw several posts for guys that got their money back after several weeks or even 2 months. I still don't get it but the bottom line is there is always someone that is up to no good around every corner!

Hiya Ed - doesn't he have a shop?
If so, he has a credit card terminal and account - so it was easy for your credit card company to do a chargeback and take the money from him.
He will be given the opportunity to appeal - but I'm sure there's no chance of that.

Step 2: warn
You have not passed Go, do not collect $200
Your criticism is different because you have a legitimate complaint? You didn't respond to the ways that you are being an oaf.
Or warning others to avoid a seller.
Exactly. Ed may have already saved other buyers from going through
the same thing he's going through.

the point is not greg - who from post #1 is obv "dnd" (do not deal).
the point is how you're handling it. i described that above. you have never responded. Sad!

This feels like a journey that has lasted 10x longer than it really has
DHL would have resolved this within 2 weeks easy.
Edit:
And I hate to say it Ed, but there were some huge rookie mistakes made on your part.
My DHL comment above was made directly after reading your line quoted.
Only then do I go on to read the rest of the thread and to put it rather bluntly,
I'm shocked.
Just want to make sure we got all of this:
We are talking a $10K card here, correct?
You bought with seeing fuzzy pictures?
Let the "well the cert number was verified on psa site" allow any peace of mind whatsoever?
Didn't research the guy prior to forking out the money or part of it?
Started to claim "medical emergency", still didn't file?
You made the huge mistake of paying via friends and family to a basic stranger?
Then you made the huge mistake of paying via friends and family to a basic stranger?
(Yes, I know I repeated myself. But that's the big one.)
It's literally called the "Friends and Family" option. This guy was neither.
And still having a hard time wrapping my head around how the package arrived,
But then got sent back part. Don't want to get sidetracked though.
I'm sorry, I have bought from you a while back. You definitely know better than this. All of this.
Not sure what was going through your mind, Ed?
I really don't mind all the investment threads,
but I have a feeling a lot of them will be bombarded with the "What is the '86 Rice 10?" joke for years to come.
Nothing, I repeat nothing about this made any sense or cents.
I do appreciate you posting the story and getting the guys name out there again.
I also sincerely hope you get made whole and that this guy gets brought to justice somehow.
Even if he does reimburse and is simply playing with your money, that's bologna.
The fact that he would toy with anyone's emotions like this or intentionally cause headaches warrants a direct beat down, in my professional opinion.
And while my words may fall a bit on the harsh side,
sometimes we just need a little "WAKE THE **** UP" pep talk!
Best of luck, Ed!

Did you ever resolve this, Ed? I hope you were at least able to get your money from this character. It's obvious the card was never shipped.
