Wonder if ud could make a throw back rc of sanchez in the 1990 series in of honor kevin mass.

    If he is careful about what he eats and continues to exercise, I'd say he will not become a mass.

    Sanchez appears to be, at this early stage, a better overall hitter with much more upside than Maas.

    Kid is doing awesome, but his stint so far in the bigs does not mirror his career in the minors so far. His average is 13 hr's a year in the minors with a .269 avg so would not sell your Mantle cards yet to pick him up.

    I got an autograph from Maas at an old timers game in Cooperstown years ago. Nice guy.

    Gary Sanchez has been a Yankee prospect for many years and is only 23. Kevin Maas was a freak thing.

    When the Yankees signed Sanchez back in 2009, he was the top international free agent as a 17 years old. His hitting was always there but they weren't sure if he had the chops to be a major league catcher. He's improved a lot defensively over the last 2 years and has already thrown out 6 of 9 runners attempting stolen bases.

    The Yankees have been blessed with a rich history of quality catchers and I think we're looking at the next one right here.

    What interesting about Sanchez is that he exploded during the end of the year. With just one month left to go, as long as he performs well or even better, his card price downfall may not occur until next year. If he doesn't get in trouble with the law, or have a career ending injury the next 20+ games, or get busted for PEDs, we have all winter and spring to decide if he's the real deal or not. Pitchers this season will not make adjustments, and look out if by miracle the Yankees are knocking on the wild card slot. Very interesting and unique situation....

    I tell you what. Im a Mets fan, and it's almost sacrilege to compliment the Yankees, but this kid excites me. Its not like he had 1 or 2 awesome games now (Aaron Judge.) He's played in 22 games, already has 34 hits and 6 putouts from behind plate. And 19 of those hits were extra bases with an unbelievable 11 HRs (fastest in history.)
    After almost a month (his FIRST month!) in the bigs, dude is hitting .405 and catching like he's Yogi.
    Very exciting time to be watching the Yankees. They're unloading tired, old veterans and bringing up fresh, young rooks with the potential to be big time stars.
    The similarities to the mid nineties are striking.
