Has anyone seen a British 1953 Crown in circulated condition? Anyone in England ever seen one circulate?

I have one in AU. I would sell it to you, but that year is kind of special for me so I don't sell my 1953 coins.

Anyone know if these circulated? Or are all the lower grade ones pocket pieces?

Bob1951, I had previously bought the first eBay one you linked. I just couldn't resist. I didn't pay the $9.99 for it though.

Interesting thought. You are most likely correct. I think that most of these were kept in uncirculated condition because the coronation was a big event at the time. A well worn one in g-vg would be interesting.

Post-19th century British crowns basically did not circulate. They were widely seen as being too cumbersome for everyday trade.

They may have been issued for face value, but very few people ever actually spent them as money.

I do not think any CN Crowns circulated, any found with wear on them are almost certainly pocket or worry coins.
