Does anyone have experience with reconsideration for a variety designation?

As mentioned in a previous thread, I have just received some coins back from PCGS and there is at least one that didn't receive a variety designation that I strongly feel should have.
Won't bore the non-Buffalo fans with too many specifics, but IMHO, it is even more deserving of the attribution than another coin (same date/mm/ variety) in the same submission that did receive it. In fact, when I posted the coin in question a while back, several members familiar with the variety agreed it was one. I've done a search of these boards for threads on reconsideration for grade, but none for a missed attribution. What's the best way to proceed here? Thanks.

Resubmit the coin on a form by itself for variety attribution using that variety's coin number.
I would try again in slab with a couple others of different stuff.
reholder / variety attribution
