PCGS Blue Boxes... Status Question

The thread announcing that PCGS won't be shipping back coin submissions in the blue boxes has become long. My question was asked by someone else in the thread and apparently lost as I didn't see it answered. So I'll start a new thread to ask it to try to clarify things...
Will PCGS still be producing the blue boxes for sale or is the manufacture of the blue boxes going to be completely stopped?
I really like the blue boxes and would hate to see them completely discontinued in any form. If so, time to stock up on Ebay.

I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

There must be scads upon scads of them out there. I can only imagine how many have been thrown away.
That doesn't answer my original question and only repeats what's been stated dozens of times in the other thread.
If you like them then go after what's offered on eBay, BST, etc. I have 31 in my closet I was about to toss but maybe I'll sell them instead.
Lance.
From a business perspective I would assume they will still be available for a long, long time in the PCGS Store for $4.50. Storage boxes are part of their product line and probably costs them less than $1 to produce - but take up quite a lot of storage space which is also an expense.
They just aren't going to give them away anymore to submitters.
Instead, they will use the cardboard boxes for return shipping, which are also available for 90c each in the store.. I'd guess the cardboard boxes cost less than 10c and can be folded up so they take a fraction of the storage space.
NGC has been doing it forever.
If you were running a business and could reduce the cost of an expense by 90% what would you do?
Only PCGS Management can answer that.

The current price for the blue boxes is $7.25. The cardboard boxes in the store are for shipping coins in 2.5 x 2.5 flips. Doesn't say or imply that they will be useful for slabbed coins. I imagine that the cardbord boxes they will use will be the same ones that they use to return a single blue box in. Hopefully they won't allow the slabs to touch each other during transit.

The dimensions stated indicate they will be.

The $7.50 is the street price.
Collector Club members pay $4.50. I guess if you're not a CC member you don't see the $4.50
The cardboard boxes are the same dimensions as the blue boxes.
None of us can say what PCGS intends to do. But my guess is that the blue boxes are history.

Don't throw them out. That would be wasteful. Put them on ebay in lots of 4 each. I think 4 is what will fit in a large, flat-rate USPS box.
I've always been surprised that I've never seen a dealer selling used blue PCGS boxes at a coin show. It seems easy enough to take 5-10 to the show and put a $5 price tag on each.
I'm currently buying a lot of blue boxes on Ebay and am attempting to satisfy what I believe will be my lifetime need for them.

Cool. Didn't know that.

You can get 8-10 blue boxes in a large flat rate box [the square-ish ones] not sure about the longer thin version. You can pack more in if you remove the lids.

I assume they will be shipped in the same cardboard overpack box the blue boxes are/were shipped in now. To do otherwise would invite trouble due to crushed boxes and damaged slabs and/or coins.
Could this be a senseless rumor?
